I think I'm actually learning how to drive right. I altered the usual route so I spend less time waiting to turn left. I also make sure I don't drive like I'm in a hurry (it's never pedal to the metal anyway, but sometimes "is this acceleration really necessary?" is a question to be asked). Now I get 50 miles per segment of the fuel gauge (and there are 8 of those) instead of 40. And the car's not even broken in yet.
I'd be lucky if I got 100 on HALF of a bigger tank in the old car. The old tank was 14gal; this one's 11.2gal. 200 miles on less than 6 gallons? It's not the very best I can do, but I'll take it!
