I got my internet on tuesday and figured out my router last night, success! I am now up and running at the apartment. Just in time to leave for the weekend for my mom's birthday XD ah haha.  Fun stuff, the past few days have had highs and lows of activity. There was the disappointing tech again against alabama, then doing lots of drawing for work. Labor day was spent doing more drawing and finding more stores near me like a best buy, target and a pet smart 'cause Nero has pop eye again -_-''  Tuesday was waiting for the verizon guy to show up, updating my music finally, running to a meeting about visiting the Thai-Burma border this winter break, running home to finish cooking and figuring out how to get to sean's amongst crazy traffic.  The new baby is adorable and Ju is doing alright which is nice to see.  I got lost on the way back (I'm really good at doing that) and went on a total music download binge that night.  Wednesday I got up and got ready to go to the Russell Senate Building next to the US Capitol.  I had this idea, that since you're allowed to get Gallery passes to watch congress in session, maybe I'd be able to use the passes to see congress in session for Obama's speech.  Jim Webb's secretary told me I should be able to when she gave me the passes, but I asked a security guard just in case and they said no :(  So I sat around there for awhile and watched all the busy guards, national guardsmen, police, reporters, and tourists milling around before they closed down the area in preparation for the speech.  Afterwards I went to the national cathedral to do some walking around 'cause I wasn't ready to go home yet, it was really nice and peaceful. I ended up getting there when a service started so I listed to that for awhile, then made my way down to my favorite alcove and took some pictures outside. I started walking back and was too stubborn to turn around when I knew I was going the wrong way, so I ended up in Adams Morgan and walked right past the metro stop there, then got hopelessly lost. I eventually got all the way to the U street station, but I got some good exercise so it wasn't a total loss...as I was very good about staying in safe and crowded areas, so it wasn't too bad. I also came across some neat places I want to eat at, maybe when people become less busy I'll find someone to go with :D I managed to get back in time to see the speech.

There were things about it I liked and things about it I didn't. I wish he'd gone into more detail about some aspects of the bill but I loved how he's really putting his foot down about getting this thing done. Obama's sick of the politics and ready for some policy making, I liked to hear him yell that at congress. Congress reminds me of a big frat sometimes, there was a lot of yelling and cheering like at football tailgates and some booing and refusing to stand at certain times when the democrats were going wild just on the other side of the aisle.  I think people have gotten certain ideas in their heads, like the government option of healthcare means that the government is totally taking over healthcare as we know is and we'll become evil socialists or something.  Come on guys, that's not what he's saying at all, you hear him but you're not LISTENING. it's necessary to have the government option to make the non government providers compete for lower prices and better quality, there's no other way to do it! I think the bill will pass soon though, despite everyone's reactions, Obama's speech made it very clear that healthcare reform is something we need to help cut costs and to improve the quality of life for many in the nation, including people who already have health care. I just wish I'd gotten to see the speech in person : )

More later, I've got some music to share with you all and more pictures to upload on picasa now that I can get things from my desktop.  Also check out the link above, it's a map of everywhere I walked XD  School is already, friends are doing alright, family's alright. Everything's just moving right along.
