A(n ammended) quote by Ambrose Bierce:

“SATAN VERIZON, n. One of the Creator's lamentable mistakes, repented in sashcloth and axes. Being instated as an archangel, Satan Verizon made himitself multifariously objectionable and was finally expelled from Heaven. Halfway in hisits descent heit paused, bent hisits head in thought a moment and at last went back. "There is one favor that I should like to ask," said heit. "Name it." "Man, I understand, is about to be created. He will need laws internet." "What, wretch! you his appointed adversary, charged from the dawn of eternity with hatred of his soul --you ask for the right to make provide his laws internet?" "Pardon; what I have to ask is that he be permitted to make them himself be denied other ISPs." It was so ordered.”

Week three is about to begin, and still I have no internet in my residence. I'm making do, at least now the downstairs lobby of the building has wifi, so I don't have to go into the empty mall at night if I need to work. I'm still getting stared at my the random residents that will walk by our "internet cafe" (one instant coffee machine does NOT a cafe make) but at least they can't mug or kidnap me without it being caught on the lobby cameras.  So, since you all must be dying to know what happened, this is the deal.

Technician didn't show up between 8-noon. he showed up around 3:30 and made two trips down to the central box for our building. First, the wiring in my apartment was messy, then the DSL from the central verizon station wasn't reaching the building. around 5:30 he discovers that there's nothing more he can do and nothing the central building can do 'cause everyone left at 4. He did have one bit of good news though, the building is also wired for "Verizon Avenue".  "What's that?" I inquire.  Apparently it's a subsidary of Verizon Communications, so this guy couldn't set it up for me, but he did eventually get me the number to call for the service. They have the same price for the same speed I signed up for with Verizon DSL but I get 6 months free. I don't get a modem/router mailed to me for an extra fee, but within 1-2 days I'll get a phone call and they'll ask me when is a good time for me that a technician can stop by and set up my modem. They may even be able to do it the same day they call, depending on the schedule.  Since I'm within the 30 day warrenty, I called Verizon back, canceled my service, called Verizon Avenue, and set up service with them. according to the technician who came over today, I'll have better, more reliable service and according to the program, I'll be saving money and frustration. I was able to get directly to the department I needed within 2 minutes and setting up the service only took another 5. So, if all goes well I could have internet by Friday.  Joy.

I'm so unbelieveably sick of this.

Other than that, things are fine. I need to go back upstairs and work on some designs (apparently Lion guy's hair needs to be down...I disagree so I'm making two versions for now.) and read a bit for class. It's nice going to a school that actually gives me labor day off. Yay. And I'll be getting a fat check sometime this month. Yay.  And my art supplies will be here in a week or so. Yaaaay. Things are looking like they will soon be turning around. Excellent.
