Comment to this post, and I will list five things I associate with you, They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your LJ (or just add a reply back to me). Other people (including me) can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.
My five terms from
ceitfianna:
Cats
I always thought of myself as a dog person, from very early on -- and then Svava the kitten from upstairs happened in my life, and she became my part-time cat, for two or three weeks at a time, when her humans were on vacation, and they were on vacation rather a lot. That made me want a cat of my own, theoretically, because I missed the shadow of those triangular ears in the evening when I sat at my computer. Then, my colleague Lena wrote an email to everybody that started out 'Who wants a cat-child?', and the rest, as they say, is history. The tiny crying ginger cat-child turned into that huge red puma currently abluting on my divan. Oh, and a little brother of his eventually came along as well.
Japan
I've got an M.A. in Japanology, which is basically the study of Japanese language and culture. It's less impressive than it sounds, as back then, you couldn't do a lesser degree than M.A. in humanities at a German university. I went to Japan in 1990 for some weeks and just traveled, going down all the way to Nagasaki. I never did anything with it professionally, but I learned how to deal with any sort of cultural differences, a skill I still use mediating between suits and geeks at work.
Cooking
I like cooking, I'm good at it, and so I have my cooking blog at
collected_fudz. I haven't written a cookbook yet, but the Nazgul and my sister both have.
Books
Books are as basic in life as food, for me and everybody in my family for as long as we can think back. We sort of live with stacks of them all around us. My Little Lady even has stacks in her shower (which isn't used as such) in the top floor bathroom, which even Sphinx and I find extreme.
Bavaria
I happened to end up here because my favourite uncle lived in Munich when I started university, and so I picked this among the potential universities to do Japanology at. I then just happened to stay here and find work after my degree. It grew on me only slowly: -- everything beyond the third outer highway ring around Munich is basically 'beyond the rimfall'. Only when I went to the rehab place in Prien this autumn did I really start to appreciate the hinterland. Now, I am aiming to emulate the current Chiemgau style the women in Prien cultivated -- sensible clothes in black, grey, brown and denim, with two or three accessories in a matching bold colours.
