Alright, Alright, So What Do You Want To Know?

This post is coming to you straight from Cairo, Egypt from a hole-in-the-wall Dr's office somewhere near Talaat Harb Square. Got a mental picture yet? Good. Its nothing like what you think.

I'm ready to come home and it's been 3 days. This kinda place just isn't for me. Call me white-collar but this place is one filthy, disgusting place. The people are great, but when you mop the SIDEWALK in front of your store daily because of how dirty it is, then it may be time to give up. Nah, I'm making it sound worse than it is, but its not as wonderful as you may have imagined either. Old is the best way to describe it. OLD. Like Cairo is forever stuck in the 70s old. What's a CD? Only seen tape decks here. CRAZY

Haha, traffic is awesome. I like watching from my hotel window looking for the next accident. Theres prolly 300 a day in Cairo alone. All fender-benders. Hell, I was in one going from the airport to my hotel the first day. They just yelled at each other in Arabic from their cars and went on their way. Awesome.

My hotel isnt too bad, its clean in my room at least and has cold air and hot water. Well what little water that comes out of the shower heh. Michelle take your old shower and decrease the pressure tenfold and thats my shower. I do have 2, yes 2, english channels, one thats all movies from before 1997 and CNN, but not regular CNN, World CNN, no sports scores, no anything. Sweet.

I walked around the city and couldnt find one store worth going in. There are 4 stores in Cairo. Shoe stores, Men's Shirts stores, Quickie Mart stores that are holes in the walls, and Optical stores. Thats it pretty much, and no lie, there are thousands of each in just the few blocks Ive walked so far. The occasional jewelry store and restaurant, but I dont understand a word in the windows. Yes, the windows. Window shopping is a must as every item in the store is in the window. If you cant see it then it isnt in the store. Wild.

Ive eaten at McDonalds and the Hard Rock, which was cool. It sits right on the Nile. Took a few pictures of the Nile, its neat, though it looks just like the Mississippi to me...probably cause I'm in the city.

Finally found the museum today thanks to Suliman. Gonna visit it later in the week, I must see Tut's tomb!!! Oh and the pyramids will be later this week, thats all thats keeping me interested in the least in being here. Should be pretty neat though, I'm kinda excited again to see that stuff.

Otherwise, I'm pretty homesick right now. It doesnt feel right coming here alone. Its pretty intimidating and I've been content to stay in my room and watch old movies. I miss Michelle like crazy. I talk and text her daily, but I want to hold her somehow. I hope my travel stays US bound from now on. I miss my parents and such too, especially with my grandma not doing so great before I left. Hope all is well, I dont have too much means of contacting my parents cause of their work schedule.

Hope this update is a good read, and yes I really am that sad to be here right now even though it is the opportunity of a lifetime. I am trying to make the best of it though.

I love you baby.
