North Korea, etc.!

It seems like we are living once again in the nuclear age of the 20th century, with North Korea having decided to celebrate the United States' Independence Day (July 4) by testing long-range nuclear missiles, all of which, however, broke up in the Sea of Japan.  This situation is, of course, different than the situation with Iran because the North Koreans are controlled by a highly militaristic, unstable government that will do whatever it sees fit to benefit it at the present time.  Iran, however, can be dealt with on a much more diplomatic level by allowing them to have controlled access to nuclear technology through United Nations (or outside deals through Great Britian or the United States) in exchange for certain levels of cooperation in the world-sphere, but the North Koreans will not be able to be trusted with such agreements.

The most likely way to deal with this situation is to blockade the North Korean coast with destroyers and aircraft carriers twelve miles offshore (and placing reconnaisance submarines underwater in the waterways), showing the North Koreans that any further actions of that nature will be viewed as aggressive and will not be tollerated.  Troops have been stationed in South Korea since the end of the Korean Conflict in 1953, roughly 30,000 or so, so these numbers should be increased to around 50,000 to ensure the safety of South Korea against any attack by the North Korean government.

Some advocate using a tactical nuclear weapon against North Korea to show them that the U.S. means business, and perhaps this would work.  Still, that's a very risky solution and the implications could be devastating if other nations retaliated.

Still, the world's situation is unstable...Even now terrorist activities are ever-present, with police in New York having uncovered a plan to bomb the tunnels in the Hudson River (Lincoln and Holland).  What will happen next?  I suppose it's only a matter of time, but if the police and government keeps cracking down on activity, we can keep people in check as much as possible...

Well, that's my thoughts on the subject for now...So adieu until my next post!
