I cribbed and paraphrased a bit from The Sun. It will be very obvious what bit, and what has been changed.

The Winter of Banked Fires, Chapters 22-25 )

Mmmm, the Fifth Doctor. I met Colin Baker at his first American convention, back in the day.

The talk between Marie and Xavier is my favorite bit in the story so far. :D

this update is a bit heart-breaking. When I watched the 2nd X-men movie, I tried to convince myself that Erik didn't leave Charles to die there, and that he didn't know that place was to be flooded. I still try to think this is just Marie's one-sided observation, but yea...not like I didn't think of that fact, only I have the love for Erik and Charles being together, and so that may have blinded me...

Another amazing update, and I admire how quick the updates are. Always a wonder for us eager readers! and I like your emotional flow in this story, it's much more real. *hugs and kisses*

Thank you so much! For me -- I don't know, Erik trying to use Charles to commit genocide is way worse than whether or not Charles himself will die in the process. So I just have to look at the whole thing as one horrible moment of madness when Erik's dark side took over. And yet I think the bond between them could survive even that, particularly if (as he does here) Erik genuinely regrets his action.

I'm so glad you're enjoying this, and thank you ever so much for the FB!
