Dear Yuletide writer, thanks for signing up for the challenge and taking on one of these fandoms. I was fairly detailed in my original requests, so instead of elaborating on those, here's a general list of likes and dislikes. But rest assured, I will be very grateful for whatever you write me.
LIKES: quippy banter, complicated motives, men who think that the women they know are AWESOME, the idea of "chosen family," thoughtful romance, exotic locales, anytime the characters have to dress up in cunning little outfits, yearning, longing, UST, someone being surprised by desire
DISLIKES: character-bashing, female characters relegated to the sidelines or judged more harshly than the guys; other people advising characters on decisions they ought to be making themselves, breaking the "fourth wall" unless the source does so itself (as it does in GOTJ), pity parties
A note for later: I will be visiting my parents on Christmas itself, and therefore I will be trapped in the Land of Dial-Up. My gratitude may not be expressed until a few days after the fact as a result. But I will be eagerly looking forward to reading my story; thanks again for taking part!
(For the merely curious: I ended up surprising myself by requesting "George of the Jungle," "Huge," "Undercovers" and LITTLE DORRIT -- only two of which I originally nominated.)
ETA: In case of treats, I should include my original requests --
1) George of the Jungle (film) - This is the goofiest, funniest, dopiest movie, but I always felt like the attraction, affection and chemistry came through stronger for George and Ursula than in a lot of movies for adults. I’d love porn for these two, sometime between the whitewater rescue and their marriage at the end of the film, but the trick is that I want George to be in-character - completely naïve and guileless but with, as Ursula said, “sensual intelligence.” If you could make this both funny and sexy, I’d be so thrilled.
2) Huge (tv) - I’d love, love, LOVE some Amber/George fic, maybe after camp is done, or perhaps next year? I mean, Will/Ian has to get fixed too, OBVIOUSLY, but I need Amber with George somehow! Barring that, I was really into Dorothy/Wayne, too. A story that had both of these romance elements would be super-awesome. If you aren’t feeling shippy, I would actually love friendship fic for Poppy and Becca, who I think is one of the only campers who would understand Poppy’s asexuality and not treat her strangely for it. Seeing Poppy handle a real friendship with a camper would be interesting too. Getting more of a view into how the counselors see Camp Victory (via either George or Poppy, or both) would be excellent.
3) Undercovers (tv) - Well, ideally, I’d like to know your theory on what the heck the big secrets were in Steven and Samantha’s pasts, and why they were brought back into the CIA; for me, the crackier this explanation gets, the better. But if you are not feeling hugely plotty, I would love something for my OT3, Steven/Samantha/Leo. I felt like Leo had a connection beyond the professional with BOTH of the Blooms in the past, and like he was not at all averse to the idea of picking up with either of them again … or ideally, both of them at the same time. This would make me hugely happy, but it is very, very important to me that neither the Steven/Leo connection nor the Samantha/Leo connection ignores the bonds between Steven and Samantha; I want kink here, but these people would still put their marriage first, somehow. And under NO circumstances do I want slash that treats Samantha as a lesser person in the mix. Really, I’d rather have Samantha at the heart of it all.
4) Little Dorrit! -- During Arthur's imprisonment, what if Amy felt that she had to convince Arthur that he ought to marry her despite his change in circumstances, and hers? And if she felt quite sure the only way to do that was for Arthur to compromise her? It wouldn't be wrong if they are to marry, after all. Extra points for Fanny trying to teach her to be seductive. If you absolutely cannot go there, tons of longing and angst between Amy and Arthur at this point would do. I confess that the recent BBC version with Claire Foy and Matthew Macfayden is hugely influential for me in terms of what things look like.
