fun facts for 10/10/10

Oct 10, 2010 23:30

1) The auspices were excellent: three pug sightings before lunch (one blackie, two fawns), plus bonus puggle.

2) Vancouver, where I am staying this week, seems to be a very laid-back place to grab coffee and hang out, which is precisely what I had hoped.

3) My apartment here lacks A/C -- which is somehow an issue in Vancouver in October, WTF? -- but is otherwise AWESOME. I have a balcony and a fireplace and a surround-sound system and reliable wireless and a soaker tub and the best-stocked kitchen I've ever seen in a vacation rental. (I have a spice rack.)

4) Today, thanks to my unforeseen TwitChange auction victory, I got to chat with Boris Kodjoe of "Undercovers" on the phone. He was very, very nice, so far as one can tell with such things, and unexpectedly bookish. No idea whether or not the show will make it, but Boris bids fair to hold the title of "Hottest Human Being I Ever Actually Spoke To" in perpetuity.

5) One thing that's the same with the apartment here as my home in Chicago: The neighbors smoke a lot of weed. At least these guys have a better grade of weed. Instead of the skunky stuff my hometown folks favor, this is the sweeter smell I recall from the days of walking to work past the stage door of "The Lion King," aka the pot-smokingest place in all New York.

6) The idea of using this as a writing retreat is actually bearing fruit! It was all brainstorming this evening, but that works. I hope to make good progress here.
