30 Rock dream, amazing weekend, things on fire, hipster puppies

I just spent five days in Santa Monica, and had, seriously, one of the most amazing weekends of my life. It was at this very unusual conference meant to bring people from different fields together to talk, and how I got invited to it I absolutely do not know, but it was spectacular. If I talked about it in more detail, I'd go on forever and probably sound like a crazy person, but just suffice it to say that I am feeling hugely inspired in a lot of different ways right now. Plus, Southern California in February = always a good plan.

Right now, it is nearly 2 a.m., and I am extremely tired, but I can't go to sleep b/c I smell smoke. Yes, by now, I am all but totally certain that the smoke is the result of the upstairs neighbors taking an odd break from getting high (which, from the usual scent in my apartment, must be more than a hobby, more like an avocation) to burn something in their oven. However, after the first time your apartment burns, you get paranoid about these things. So I am clinging on to consciousness until I am more confident that I will not go up in smoke, literally.

I had a "30 Rock" dream over the weekend that was, essentially, the way a Jack/Liz thing on the show would actually have to go. I don't remember any details except that Liz and Jack were almost joking around and kissed each other, but it turned into this mega-passionate liplock that went on and on -- and then they pulled back, looking horrified. Jack said, "So, that can never happen again," and she said, "Agreed," and they quickly walked off in different directions. I mean, it would sort of work, wouldn't it? I also had a dream where I time-traveled back to the Titanic to try and defuse a bomb, though honestly, I am hard-pressed to see how much that would help, as I didn't seem to have any anti-iceberg mission to go with. I actually traveled into the events of the '97 film, then jarred the reality when I recognized Victor Garber as himself and not Thomas Andrews, which threw the whole thing out of kilter.

Everyone has seen the hipster puppies blog, right? Genius.
