Sydney hadn't particularly liked Michael Vaughn - or, well, maybe she liked him a little, even if he seemed much too young for the job - but she'd come to trust him. Isolated in SD6, alone with only the hard truth for comfort and supported only by the father she hardly knew, Sydney needed someone to trust. Just when it seemed like Vaughn might have been that person, the CIA had yanked him away.

Whoever it is I'm meeting tonight had better be good. She jammed her fists in her pockets, cast a cursory glance around and ducked into the warehouse ( ... )

Oh, gosh! I'm such a dunderhead--I didn't even GET that the reason he wanted to have wizards rule would be because he'd want to protect kids like Ariana. Well done!
