THANK YOU to the people who posted ficlets! I'm just about to thank and love on the people I haven't loved on already, and wow, for a random fic call, the results were astonishingly good! I have smart friends who are good writers. ::loves::
Last night I actually typed the words "THE END," which provided a sense of closure and satisfaction, but at a very great remove, the way you can sort of tell you're touching your cheek after a shot of novocaine. I have so much rewriting to do that I don't feel anywhere close to being done. However, I have a draft now, one which I will print out today so that I can start reading through the book as a whole -- I think that's going to help focus my thinking a lot.
Today, on my way to work, I walked behind a woman who was so desperately anorexic I wanted to cry. I do not assume that very thin people are ill; sometimes I wonder, but I try not to assume. This woman was ill. I have never before been able to discern the outline of someone's pelvic bones through a pair of pants. I wanted to say something to her, anything, but what could I say? Either she already knows she's sick or she's in a level of denial that some weirdo on the street wouldn't be able to break through. I am still sort of disturbed.
