Books: "Riptide" and "Curious Case of the misplaced modifier"

Riptide, the CSI Miami tie-in book, was better than I expected - in fact I read it almost in one go. I had a gripping case, some very sarcastic characterization and a well-planned plot. Not enough Ryan in there, although he had some good scenes.

"Curious Case of the misplaced modifier" - yet more weak writing I have to watch out for during revision of my fanfics...A good, solid book for beginners, presented in a detective-like way.
