The Passing of a Great Musician, My Uncle Ev
My Uncle Everett Gates (b. 1914) died yesterday evening. He was a professor emeritus at the Eastman School of Music, second only to Juliard, where he taught theory and composition for many years. He also served as the Chairman of the Board there, and was the primary influence of my music education growing up. Please, if you pray, send a few kind words of gentle Light towards his journey through the Bardo worlds, and that he may achieve a higher incarnation towards the liberation of his soul.
