Work and School

Anyway, some good news that I haven't shared here yet, I'm a professional cook now as well as a culinary student. Since the day before Easter, in fact. My first work pretty much was helping to put on an easter buffet for some 200 or so people. I've done several other banquets since then, as well as working on the line. It's a hotel/restaurant on the coast, right across the street from the beach. I've been parking my car with a beautiful view of the beach, but as the season goes on I'm going to have to start parking in the municipal lot a few blocks away, unless I want to feed the parking meters that go into effect soon. It's fairly mainstream food - burgers, steaks, chicken, turkey. We have multiple menus for different spaces, mostly important to me are the bar menu and the dining room menu. We do everything from hamburgers and chicken fingers up to filet mignon (with roasted tomato demi glace... ) Today I did a lot of grilling of steaks and burgers, as well as some spicy fried calimari and spicy chicken fingers, and a lot of expediting (reading tickets and trying to keep people co-ordinated). Of course, I still have school as well which can make life interesting when I work in the evening and start school early in the morning...
