I have dropped Marching Band.
Why? I'm getting my tonsils removed on Wednesday August 8th.
Let's look at this realistically. After the surgery (which is routine I know) my throat is pretty much going to kill. How much do you think I'm going to practice? Think about it...I won't be able to play for a while. I can practice now and have things down for the audition. But I won't be playing for a while and I'd just start being able to play again (seriously) by the time the auditions for chair placement came around. This may be my pride talking but I don't think it's fair for me to audition and do poorly on the audition just because I had a medical procedure done therefore making it pretty much impossible for me to play for a bit.
I'm also going to say this. It was not my choice to have the surgery done August 8th. I've been bugging my parents about this since May and they just did something at the beginning on July. It wasn't until July 30th that I had an appointment with my E.N.T. and he asked when I was going back to school and I said the 18th of August, and he said well then we should set up the appointment for either the 8th or the 9th of August. My dad agreed.
The E.N.T. said it would be best not to wait for the surgery mainly because I am healthy now. Otherwise I would have waited until I came back home in December. Honest. I was actually looking forward to Marching Band this year. I am sorry. I do honestly realize that we need people this year. Please just try to understand and see things from my perspective.
Oh, and I will make this up...just let me know what I can do (other than being in Marching Band).
