...the long cold off-season.

It's the long off-season for some, but for others it's the time of the most important rally in the calendar -- the Dakar Rally. Two weeks on gravel and sand of Argentina and Chile... Around a half of starters made it to the finish line in Buenos Aires. Including 10 Poles, which makes me incredibly happy.
Big big shame that Hołowczyc broke the transmission shaft and had to pull out of the rally, he had a really good chance to beat his 5th place last year. That's how it is on the Dakar, you never know what will happen in the next kilometers.
Wish him better luck next year with the VW ;)

Our riders did fabulously, all of them finishing the rally with pretty good results. They had some "unexpected events" like Kuba leaving his chain and tools to Lopez, or Jacek setting his alarms off and helping out other rider who had a dangerous accident. Dakar is a rally that shows that not only the results count, but also the fair play.
Marek Dąbrowski finished 33rd, incredible result considering only 4 months ago he got on the bike after a terrible injury he sustained on rally of Argentina last year.
Jacek Czachor achieved something noone had ever done in the world of cross-country rallying -- he finished the Dakar for the 10th time in a row from 10 times he participated in the rally. Impressive statistic, I have to say :)
Big surprise was Krzysztof Jamruż, sponsored by Radio Zet privateer finished 27th! Congrats!

But the highlight of it all was Kuba Przygoński, who finished 8th, the highest classified Pole in the rally ever! I can tell you, this guy is the future of Polish rallying. Give him a better bike and he'll be battling at the front with Coma and Despres. As expected from World Championship runner-up.

But it all doesn't matter, everyone who can finish this rally is a winner ;)
