Shabbat, shingles, and shlepping

We have had quite an exciting week. My in-laws are in town and we took a two-day road-trip on Sunday/Monday. We drove way up north to Rosh Hanikra then toured our way down through Acre, Haifa, Zichron Yaakov, and Caesarea. We had lots of fun and of course we geocached our way down the coast, including mom-in-law's first find on her own!

When we got home and got the girls ready for bed I found little bumps all over E. At first I thought it was bedbugs and we immediately tossed the PJs she had worn in the hotel the previous night into the wash but alas, in the morning the spots had spread so a quick dash to the ped confirmed it: she has chickenpox.

Before you ask, yes, she has been vaccinated. But it turned out a nasty localized rash Shawn had on his abdomen last week was actually a mini case of shingles and it was contagious enough for E to have gotten an apparently relatively mild case of pox. She has spots all over and they bother her, especially at night, but otherwise she is fine. No fever or other general illness yuckiness. Unfortunately due to her contagiousness she can't go to her gan purim party, megillah reading, or out to the zoo with her visiting grandparents. We also, according to the advice of the pharmacist, get to look forward to B getting sick as well in the next week or two.

Finally, we got our CSA delivery for the week. Regular and cherry tomatoes, cauliflower, fresh spinach, cucumbers, carrots, potatoes, eggs, red grapefruit, pomelit, mixed greens and parsley. So the Shabbat menu, planned accordingly, so far consists of:

Curried tofu and cauliflower with potatoes and tomatoes
Greek spicy garbanzo beans with spinach
