I have six scenes to write today and I can't get past this bullshit.
I hate, hate scene 30. The minute I finish it, I think I'm going to print it out and light it on fire.

Edit
After much procrastinating and some alcohol, I discovered that the best way to deal with this scene was to write it from Paula's perspective, instead of Itoban. I also figured out exactly what Paula's constructed excuse would be. Once I figured out all of that, it was actually fun and easy to write.
A lot of writers talk about how writing involves a lot of trudging and how the process itself is really tedious. Lately, this has only been true for starting scenes, because there's so much to consider. After getting about a half a page into it, though, it becomes a lot easier, because everything has already started flowing. There is still a lot of wording to consider, and mechanics, of course, but a good scene will usually run smoothly--and a lot of the time when a scene isn't running smoothly, it's a sign that there's something big I need to change. (Today was a good example of this.)
This book can be a huge bitch to write sometimes, and the thought of just how much I have left can be really overwhelming, but I enjoy working on it. I don't know that it will really appeal to a lot of people, but it's definitely the sort of book I would love to read.
