spread the love

In this day and age where a PURE random act of kindness is rare even sometimes unheard of, I encounter one just this day.

A chewed off power cord of our dvd player got me searching for a new one (thanks to our dog). I looked store after store looking for that replacement cord but to no avail. The search eventually led me to an electronics/appliance store in Glorietta. I asked for the sales clerk who handles the brand our dvd player had and asked him if they had any replacement cord in stock. He went somewhere and returned with the exact cord I was looking for. He asked me if I had the receipt for the purchase of the dvd player I had. He said if I had it, he could make it look like I bought the player there and the cord was not in the box when I had purchased it. Of course, the receipt wasnt with me. So he went directly to the cashier and made up the story that I had left the cord of the dvd player I had purchased there. The cashier wrapped it and the cord was mine. I tried to give him a resonable "bribe" for the act but, he rejected the offer. He told me, "No its okay. No problem sir."

It still baffles me why he had done such an act. Considering the fact that he was risking his job if he got caught for giving a customer free stuff. It may have been good karma or it may have been something else, but I would like to think that it was a real genuine act of kindness...and im going to do just the same for someone. (and hopefully that someone spreads the love around too)

P.S
The guy's name is FRED and he works at Abenson, Glorietta. So Fred, thanks man! even if theres not a chance of you reading this. You're a prime example of the saying which so hardly have I tried to apply in my life-- "Be the change you want to see in the world"
