Visited one of my dad's sister's yesterday [I don't see them all that often] and I discovered that she's been taking antidepressants for most of her life. Not sure what sort of results she was getting but I figure they couldn't be satisfying as she was constantly seeing her doctor. In the last couple of days she received an answer.
She's not suffering from depression. It's
Hashimoto disease. It's an autoimmune disease that attacks the thyroid that I've learned is frequently misdiagnosed as depression.
Needless to say an autoimmune disease I believe would be preferable to depression which is infuriatingly resilient to medications.
I'm doubtful that my answer could be that easy [which is to say I'm trying very hard not to consider it a possibility] I don't want to get my hopes up, besides even if it were Hashimoto there's nothing saying my body would take any better to Thyroid medication that it does to the antidepressants. For all I know I've already been tested for it, but I'm going to find out tomorrow either its in my records or I'll get it done since its just a simple blood test.
