[It's been bothering me for awhile]
Where did the pet name for Dean originate?
I've used it myself without thinking about it, so many authors out there do, but when I went and looked back at the script for the show...It's not there, John calls Dean Buddy, Dude, Dean, but never Ace.
Which leads me to conclude this is a Fannon thing, which irritates the hell out of me. I hate the fact that I've used the term myself in several stories [I want to go back and edit them out] Don't ask me why this bother's me so much, I find it offensive...like Romeo's fluffy tail [that should tell you all you need to know ^_~]
Still I think of these things and can't help but wonder who the hell started it. Are they sitting back laughing that so many people are using the term now?
Sparky
There's another example, this is from Stargate Atlantis, someone at some point decided [for reasons unknown to me] that the term 'Sparky' made perfect sense to denote a relationship between John Sheppard and Elizabeth Weir, as you can see there's no combination of the letters of their names that create the word Sparky.
So again, who started it? Why did everyone suddenly decide to use it?
I don't recall Fannon ever bothering me this much in the past, perhaps I just never gave it any thought. But I really want to track these back to their sources, Ace more than Sparky
