the laptop saga continues

Out of frustration for what I was told yesterday about Tsume, I decided to call around and get some other experts opinions of whether or not the Disc Verification screen is a sign that the HD had wiped itself.

I went straight to HP and spoke to a very kind very helpful technician who told me that the disc verification screen has absolutely nothing to do with the HD but only the OS. so if this wasn't the screen the repair guy was talking about I want to know what it was, and then tell them that this was them not me since I never say it.

I was also reassured by the HP Tech that it isn't nearly so easy to wipe a HD as the depot told me it was, yes you can damage them, but wiping them actually takes effort. Which brings me back to what the fuck happened with my hard drive?

I think I'm relatively resigned to the fact that I've lost everything I had there, as hard as that is. I tend to lazy about deleting things so a lot of what was on Tsume is still on Toboe...but I do know there's quite a bit that isn't.

When I go to pick up my laptop I intend to speak to both the guy who took it and they're own tech guy and see what they have to say for this 'screen that means the HD was wiped'

Needless to say I'm so not impressed at the moment, but at least I feel a little satisfied having spoke to the HP tech.

Not only that but my dad has a friend that might be able to try and recover the information, I'm not sure how much if anything it'll cost me. Or even if it'll work but it's worth a try.

For this part at least I'm numb, we'll see what happens when I got to pick up Tsume

frustration, numb, tsume, lappy
