7faces!verse one-shots.
All of these happened inside the fic and is related to all the happenings. This doesn't change anything in the story though, and is simply an additional.
Chibi!KamiShi: Of Stars and promises
They were sitting out on the porch as they waited for Shida's father to come out with their things. Shida refused to help, wanting to savor each moment left with her best friend.
She was quiet as she watched the stars in the sky. She hoped for a falling star, just to seal her wish. She wanted to come back here, to stay with Kamiki again.
"Ne," His left hand covered hers as his cheeks turned pink. "growing old together, having a family... I want to do all of those with Mi-chan."
"Me too..." she shyly replied.
"That's why..." he was looking down, not letting her see how much he was blushing.
"That's why when I come back, we'll definitely get married okay?" Shida asked bravely, smiling brightly at him.
His eyes widened as he looked up. After a moment of stunned silence, his face broke into a smile. "Un!"
Shida showed her pinky finger. "Promise?"
Nodding happily, he locked pinky fingers with her. "Promise!"
There and then, both knew that when they grow up, they'll sit in this porch again with their children and they will be the happiest family in the world.
Chibi!KamiShi: Of shoe laces and power rangers
"My first human memory was when I cried because I tripped on my shoelaces, and he helped me up."
Shida Mirai was four years old then, and was just as hyper as any other child. She was playing in front of their house as her father watered the plants. She was running around happily, loving the feel of the air on her face as she ran.
Her shoelaces came off though, and soon enough she tripped and scraped her knee. Her father was too busy to notice, and she did not want to cry and call her father's attention. She bit her lips and tried her hardest not to cry.
"Are you okay?" A boy just about her age crouched down in front of her and peered at her face. "Are you hurt?"
"I'm..." She hiccuped, some tears finally falling. "I'm okay..." she looked down, afraid that her father will see her and get too worried again.
"Eh..." He took her hand and pulled her. "You're not okay, right?" He puffed up his cheeks as he looked down at her shoes. "It's all your fault!" he shouted at the shoes. "Shoelaces should do their job properly!" he frowned sternly as he stared at them. He then smiled at her. "There, they won't do it again!" He looked fairly proud of himself. He crouched down and tied her shoes. He then took a band aid from his pocket and placed it on her scraped knee.
"Power rangers...?" she asked, looking at the picture on the band aid.
He grinned. "Un! My mom..." He reduced his voice to a whisper as he leaned forward. "My mom is actually a former power ranger. She was pink ranger! That's why I'm gonna be Red Ranger when I grow up."
This made her giggle. "I see." was all she could say.
"I'm Kamiki Ryunosuke!" He proudly introduced himself. "I live there!" He pointed to the house right beside hers.
"I'm Shida Mirai." She smiled. "And I live here." She pointed to her house.
"Nice meeting you~" He said as he waved and walked back to his house where a beautiful lady was patiently waiting with a smile.
Chibi!KanaHiha: Of nicknames and first loves
Kanata would never say it out loud, but Aki was not his first love. He would never say it, but he knew what love is as soon as he saw her running towards him that day.
They were just barely seven years old, just starting on elementary school. Young and carefree, with much happiness and curiosity. Kanata was a smart child, and his parents were proud of his advanced skills. He barely got out and contented himself on reading at home. His family had high hopes for him.
Hiharu was different. She was smart and pretty, but she always went out of the house to play. She loved the nature and she would be completely dirty when she comes home. Her mother scolded her, but her father always asked her about her adventures. He was a perfect dad for her. She was bright, but there was no pressure.
One day, while Hiharu was out playing, the Hongo family went to her house to pay a visit. They were planning to talk about the arranged marriage. They had to sign contracts about the merger as well as about the future marriage. Hiharu's father wanted to object, but he had no choice. He had to use his daughter for this. He had to or else their company will fall and Hiharu will not be able to study in her private school anymore.
Kanata was clad in a perfectly ironed polo shirt and pants. Looking like the little genius that he was. As his parents talked about various complex things he did not understand nor care about, he walked outside to the garden on the yard. It had tall trees and it looked almost like a forest to his young mind.
"Ouji-sama!" A young girl was running to her, a huge smile on her face. Her cheeks had mud on it, and her hands were full of dirt as well. Her dress was disheveled as well. She was odd-looking, but Kanata was captured by how she looked. She was so pretty, so free. "Ouji, did you come to rescue the princess?"
"...What?" He did not understand what the girl was saying. "Who is ouji?"
"You are! You're wearing regal clothes, aren't you ouji? The prince will rescue the princess, right?" Her eyes were wide with innocence as she pulled his hands. Her dirty hands were cold, but he felt exceptionally warm. "Ouji-sama came from a far, far place, right? You must be tired. But you must save the princess!" Once they passed through three or four trees, the girl pointed up the branches of one tall tree and said "There she is! The princess is trapped!" Perched on the branch was a small doll, with dark hair and a pink frilly gown.
"Princess...?" His voice was almost incredulous. First of all, that doll was not pretty at all. It looked cheap and handmade. Second, he did not know how to climb trees. He was not athletic at all, and preferred staying at home. "I can't save her."
"But why?" She frowned. "Aren't you the prince sent to save her? Don't you love her?"
He rolled his eyes and glanced up the tall tree. "I'm a commoner and I don't know how to climb that tree. I don't want to die yet."
"Oh... Okay." she sighed in disappointment before rushing over to the tree and placing a hand on the smallest branch. With a perfectly timed jump, she was able to climb the branch and started climbing higher.
"Wait!" his eyes widened. "What are you doing?!"
"Saving the princess. I find it sad that you can't save her but there's no helping it." She shrugged and climbed up higher.
"You might fall! Don't climb up!" He shouted in panic.
She giggled as if she found that funny. "I've been climbing these trees ever since I learned how to walk! Don't worry-" Her words were cut short when she slipped on the branch she was about to step on. "Ah!" Good thing was, she was able to hold on to a near branch, so she was able to maneuver back down to the ground. "That was fun~"
Narrowing his eyes in anger, he approached her and yelled "You could have been really hurt! That was not fun! You aren't supposed to do that!"
"But the princess..." She looked down in embarrassment.
"Aren't you supposed to be the princess?" he asked. "Normal girls would say that."
Her eyes widened. "I'm no princess!" was her simple reply.
Before she could explain more, a voice started calling for them. "Kanata! Come here!" Both of them ran towards the house.
When they arrived, Hiharu's father looked apprehensively at her. "I told you not to play outside today, right?" he asked.
"I'm sorry..." she bowed.
"This is my playful daughter, Hiharu." he explained to the guests. "Hiharu, this is the Hongo family's only son: Kanata."
"Kanachan?" she asked. "Ouji is Kanachan?"
Frowning, he said "I'd rather be called Ouji than Kanachan." He didn't like girly nicknames at all. He hated it when his parents calls him with a -chan.
"Then~ Ouji-sama, nice to meet you." She smiled brightly and curtsied.
Her father laughed at this. "Ouji-sama, huh. Then won't my Hiharu be a great Ojou-sama?"
Her eyes sparkled in joy upon hearing that. "Will I be?"
Seeing that happy expression on her face, he couldn't help but say "Nice meeting you Hiharu'Oujo-sama." He bowed down a bit.
All the adults in the room laughed at this as well.
Hiharu was way more than happy though. She moved towards him and hugged him. "Uwah~ Ouji-sama is so kind~"
He blushed then, and realized that he had fallen in love for the first time.
Years later, he would have forgotten this. Only to be recalled when he finally falls in love with her the second time around.
JuniorHigh!ShouZomi: Of lateness and melonpans
Sakamoto Shougo woke up late on the first day of classes. He was on his first year of junior high, and he wanted to be as early as possible, to make as much friends as he can. Of course, this plan cannot be done anymore. He just had to wake up late today of all days! He quickly buttoned his shirt up, took one toast from his plate and rushed outside, barely being able to say "Ittekimasu!" to his family.
He was running, and running, and running. He knew he'll be able to at least not be late if he runs full speed ahead.
This plan was stopped as well though, when he saw a girl kneeling on the side of the road. She was panting, as if she was having a hard time to breath. "Are you okay?" He immediately approached her.
Her cold hands held on to his arm as she nodded briefly. "I'm... I will be okay... I have to go to school..."
She was sweating a lot, and it really looked like she was having a hard time. He found himself worrying for this girl. "But you're sick, aren't you?" He pulled her up and held on to her thin arms. "Why don't we go to the hospital?"
"No!" As if getting her energy back, she yelled and pushed him away. "I can go to school! You can't make me stop-" Catching the loud voice she was using, she bit her lip and bowed down a bit. "I'm sorry. I should go now. Thank you."
He meets her again in class when he arrives. He was a few minutes late, and he immediately got reprimanded for his actions. But he was distracted enough not to care about it. He was definitely curious about that girl.
"Late on your first day, really?" An elementary friend sat beside him, opening his lunch as he laughed at Shougo. "What a great way to start the year, Shou."
He wasn't listening though, as he was rummaging through his bag to search for his lunch box. "Nowhere... Ahhh" He scratched his head in irritation. "I left my food at home! And worse, I left my wallet too."
His friend proceeded to laugh again, finding amusement in his bad luck. "This year promises good stuff, Shou. Hahaha"
He pouted as he threw his bag down, irritated more than anything. He was usually happy and energetic, but this morning just zapped his energy away from him. He wanted to eat so much that he'll probably just snatch away his friend's lunch any minute now.
"Ah..." A voice caught his attention. The girl from this morning was standing beside them, holding a small plastic. "I have an extra melonpan and juice. Do you want some?"
Shougo's eyes sparkled in joy at that. In this era, there's actually someone who would just give away her food to someone she doesn't even know the name of?! What a good person~! "Tha-thanks." He stood up and offered a hand. "I'm Sakamoto Shougo, by the way."
She smiled brightly, contrary to her expression earlier. "I'm Maeda Nozomi. Nice to meet you!" She took his hand and shook it. As if remembering something, she leaned forward to whisper something. "Please don't tell anyone about what happened earlier, ne?" She smiled again and winked cutely, sealing the deal. She then walked away, joining her own group of friends.
His friend narrowed his eyes and poked at his arms as he sat down. "Looks like you have a new prospect, huh?" Shougo was known to be a boy who loved getting girls attention, and who got distracted from everything once he finds someone he likes. He is known for discarding those girls easily as well, though. He was eclectic and yet determined. He was a nice guy, but he could not find his true love.
Shougo looked at the melonpan in his hands, images of Nozomi's angry face, surprised face, grateful face, and mischievous face parading inside his mind. He just met her this morning, but she had bared herself that much to him already. What an odd girl.
He felt odd too, not having the urge to make her like him or to get her attention. Instead, an overwhelming need to protect her and her cute smile came over him.
It was the first time he felt it.
And so, people soon noticed how Shougo changed bit by bit. He did not go to karaoke or arcade after class anymore, intent on walking Nozomi home. He even gave up his weekend rest when Nozomi needed to go to the hospital.
Shougo found himself continually interested in Nozomi. And years after that, he still had not discarded his feelings.
For once in his life, he found himself sticking to one person. Loving this girl for his entire life.
AkiShi: In His Mind (Chapter 16 different POV fic)
This story took place right at the center of their story, right when Yosuke was taking over Kamiki's body. Aki was conscious of Yosuke's thoughts, of Shida's actions, and of just about everything around.
"That Aki... is he your boyfriend or anything?"
"Wha-what?! There's nothing like that between us!!!"
Upon hearing that, Aki could not help but push Yosuke away from the consciousness. Who could accept an answer like that anyway? Not that he wanted her to say yes... But he just... wanted a better answer.
"Augh..." He clutched his head, feeling a little bit dizzy. He didn't really like taking over consciousness. But this time, he just had to. "Tsk." He looked up, eyes cold and posture straighter. "Such powerful denial."
Her eyes widened, obviously surprised. "AKI?!" Blinking rapidly, her hands flailed at the side and she tried to speak coherently, but to no avail. "You- Why- What?!"
Aki did not like stupid girls, or any other kind of girl, actually. He hated how they fawned at him, how they praised him, how pitiful they looked when he rejects them... He just really didn't like how weak they seem. But Shida Mirai was not weak, just a little bit too precious. It was as if she was a gem, who could survive any kind of hammering, but you would still want to protect it. She was just really special. "I see everything that happens to Yosuke. He's stupid, that's why. I have to be on guard all the time." He started walking away, not liking the effect she has on him. If she can make him lose it and push personalities away from consciousness, doesn't it mean that she will make him look away from his job as Ryunosuke's protector as well?
She did not back down though. She ran after him and stopped right in front of him, staring right into his eyes. "Then why did you appear?"
It was just like Shida to be this stubborn. To be this determined. Aki hated being too weak to those eyes. He wanted to get away fast.
"You're annoying." He resorted to saying. It was all he could do not to stare more into her eyes and tell her that he didn't want to change into Yosuke anymore. But he knew his job. He wasn't a perfectionist for nothing. "I've fixed up Mai's conflict for you so do your best anyway."
Afraid that she'll run after him again, he ran full speed ahead to his house.
That day, Aki let go of his restrains for a while, as he talked to her on the phone. It was just a few minutes... but it was an important time to him. For once, he was able to be free from being Ryunosuke's shield. He was able to hear Shida's laugh, and be able to talk like how he wanted too.
He was happy.
He knew it wouldn't stay this way for long, and so he cherishes this moment. He'll never ever forget how Shida made him feel. How even as a personality, he was able to fall in love.
JingiMai: I'll be there for you.
Jingi has waited so, so long to confess to her. To hug her and tell her that she was only one he could look at ever since. He had that perfect image in his mind.
But Juichi easily killed off all chances of that happening. He easily made everything complicated for Jingi.
It took a week for him to be able to approach Mai again. "Hey." was all he could say as he walked past her at the corridor. He thought it was a good first step.
Mai had other plans though. She took him by the arm and dragged him to the nearest empty classroom. "Jingi-kun..."
His eyes widened, realizing that the time has come for him to face this situation. "Mai-chan... You don't have to think about that. I'm not really expecting anything." He was saying it to the floor, unable to look her in the eyes.
"Jingi-kun, please look at me." She pleaded. "You're my best friend, and I just can't... I can't bear not being able to talk to you."
He looked up, his heart clenching painfully at her words.
"I'm not sure how much I've hurt you... I talked about Yosuke all the time with you, and didn't even realize your feelings. I'm sorry." She bowed her head in remorse. "I... I can't return your feelings yet. You know how much I love him..."
"I know." Jingi said. "I know, I've always known. And I've always waited. Nothing really would change. I'll wait until you forget about him."
It took her months to be able to stop thinking about Kamiki. She saw how happy he already was with Shida, and dared not meddle with that peace. Watching them be happy somehow made her accept it.
Throughout this period, he was always beside her. To be the shoulder to cry on when she cries, to be a confidante, to accept her selfish wishes... He was always there for her. And luckily, she finally realized it.
She was not quite in love with him, and simply thought his existence was too important in her life.
But Jingi was happy as it is. To be able to stay beside her, it was all that he needed. He'll wait. Wait until that time when his important existence would be an indispensible part of her life. Until she realizes that she wants him to stay by her side forever too.
Adult!ShouZomi: Her College Days
Nozomi Maeda was a fairly contented girl. She had a handsome, loving and understanding boyfriend. She was studying in a great university. She was sure to own the costume store of her family. She had great friends. And her illness was as good as gone.
Everyday was exciting too, what's with Shougo always visiting her and being overly jealous about everyone.
"You're here again?!" Shougo glared openly at Yuta who was innocently eating his lunch. "Why are you always eating with Nonchan anyway?!"
Yuta blinked before simply answering "We're friends and we're classmates, so we eat together."
"Grrr..." Shougo sat beside Nozomi and pushed Yuta's seat a few inch away.
"Mou, Shou-chan!" She pouted and crossed her arms as she scolded him. "Yu-chan is my friend. I'm thankful that I had a friend here, so I'm never lonely."
Shougo frowned and looked down, like a depressed puppy. "I wanted to be held back just to be your classmate, but you did't want me too... And now... And now..." He really looked like a lost puppy, pitiful and adorable at the same time.
She couldn't help but pat him on the head. "Now, now, you're studying hard for me, right? That makes me really~ happy too!" She smiled brightly, erasing all kinds of depression from Shougo. "By the way, aren't you eating?"
He blinked. "Ah." He patted his pockets, eyes widening. "I left my wallet at the car. I should-"
Her hand was placed on his shoulder to stop him. On her face was a nostalgic smile."I have an extra melonpan and juice. Do you want some?" she giggled as she took a small plastic bag from her bag.
"Uwah..." He couldn't help but blush at the memory. "Brings back memories."
She nodded. "Right~?"
"When I accepted it, I thought for sure that I was in love with you." Shougo said out of the blue, blushing bright red.
This caused her to blush as well. "Mou, Shou-chan!"
"I love you Nozomi." was all he said as he leaned forward and kissed her on the cheeks.
Though thoroughly embarrassed, she couldn't help but smile. "I love you too."
Adult!KanaHiha: Saving the Princess
Kanata, 30 years old, was walking around Hiharu's old house. He was reminiscing about how they first met, about how light he felt when he saw her smile.
"Ouji!" Hime, his first child who is six years old now, came running towards him. "You're the prince, right? Will you save the princess?"
A wave of nostalgia passed through him. "Is the princess trapped?" he played along.
"Yes! At the top of the dungeon!" She ran ahead to the garden, which to Kanata was just simply a garden now. It was small and simple now compared to his childish impression of it.
He almost laughed at what he saw. Hiharu was atop the tree, sitting happily like a child. "Now, now, Hime, that is no princess!" He said, chuckling. He looked up and addressed his wife. "Isn't Ojou-sama too old to be climbing trees already?"
She smiled sweetly and asked, "You aren't too old to catch me, are you Ouji-sama?"
He laughed again and walked towards the tree. "The prince is absolute." He replied simply. "Come down now."
She gracefully jumped down the branch, just like how she did before. "Ah~ That was fun~"
"You're such a bad influence to our children!" Kanata sternly scolded. "Stop climbing trees or else Yume will get ideas." He watched as his wife puffed up her cheeks cutely. She was still the same Hiharu he knew, energetic, stubborn and playful. She had matured a bit, and seldom talked about aliens and the like (except when she's talking with Kamiki, who spoiled her and accepted her alien theories). She was a great mother to Hime and a wonderful wife to Kanata. He then kneeled in front of Yume and pinched her cheek. "You, lady, are not allowed to climb trees like Mama, okay? You're our princess so you shouldn't get hurt." He smiled tenderly as Hime nodded with a wide smile.
Hiharu watched as Kanata and Hime stood up, before she walked to their side and curtsied. "Ouji, Hime, would you like to have some tea now?"
"If we may, please Ojou." Kanata, eyes full of happiness and contentment, bowed down regally.
Hime pulled at her imaginary gown and curtsied as well. "After you, mama."
Adult!KamiShi: At the Porch
Shida was sitting at their porch, looking up at the sky. She could still remember that time when they were younger, when Kamiki and her promised to get married. It was a dream for her. And that dream came true.
They passed through so much, but they were able to get through all those. They ended up victorious. As Ken-chan had said, as long as they were together, they would be able to conquer anything.
Her thoughts were stopped abruptly when Yuya, their 7 year old son, went out to sit with her. "Mama, what are you doing here?"
"I'm thinking about papa." She smiled. "This is where Mama proposed to Papa, you know." She giggled as she watched her son's innocent expression.
"Did you give him roses?" was his innocent question. He probably watched that kind of proposal on TV.
"No. But I did give him my heart." Shida laughed at her own corny thoughts.
Yuya's eyes widened. "Mama, did papa take your heart?!" He looked as if he was panicking. He opened the door and ran inside. "Papa! Papa! Give back mama's heart!"
Shida could not help but laugh merrily at her son's reaction. She waited as Kamiki lifted Yuya up and brought him outside to the porch. "Mama, what kind of stories are you telling Yuya?!"
"Just the truth~" Shida smiled brightly. "I told him I gave you my heart here."
"Eeeh~" Kamiki laughed, finally understanding why his son was saying that. "Yuya, it's okay. I took care of mama's heart and I gave her mine in return." He patted Yuya's head.
The child seemed amazed at this. "Can I give my heart to Hime?!" he asked, eyes wide.
Shida's eyes widened. "My son..." Her protectiveness was coming out.
"Mi-chan, looks like we have a prospective daughter-in-law already!" Kamiki chuckled. "Just promise me, Yuya. Never hurt the one you will like, okay?"
"Hai!"
BONUS
Hime, eight years old, was running to the school yard hastily, scared that she will be late. But because of hurrying too much, she tripped on the sidewalk and scraped her knee.
"Hime!" A worried Yuya ran to her. "Are you okay?"
She stood up easily and nodded. "I'm okay."
"Ah..." Yuya kneeled down and looked at her knee. "You scraped it." He stood up and pulled her to the nearby faucets for the sports teams. Taking out his handkechief, he poured water on it and started cleaning Hime's wound. "Shou'jii-san taught me this." He proudly said. He took out a band aid from his pocket and placed it on her knee. "There! All fixed!"
She blinked as she looked at her knee. "Power rangers...?"
Yuya laughed as he stood up. "My father had it. It's a secret but..." He leaned forward to whisper to her. "He still wants to be Red Ranger."
rofl. Yep. Coherent ending is coherent. I'M GONNA GO AND SHIP HIME x YUYA RIGHT NOW. <3
