I lay a curse upon all popular shoujo manga....
Indeed is my mood crappy. I've had a headache since about 7 this evening. I took medicine for it as soon as I could, and still it persists. I've had diversions, but still it pains me. It's not so much the pain as the continuance of it that bothers me.
I curse popular shoujo manga because the popularity (at least, I assume it's the popularity) of it causes it to have many, MANY volumes published, volumes for which I have no money to purchase. I read the first volume of Legend of Basara tonight, and it was really, REALLY good! Then I found out it's TWENTY-FREAKIN'-SEVEN volumes long! For us poor English-speakers who don't live in Japan where one of those tankoubon is super-cheap, we have to pay ten bucks a pop, and that works out to TWO HUNDRED SEVENTY DOLLARS! I don't have a job, and even if I did, I couldn't spend all the money on manga (much as I would love that). Accursed long series! Why does the plot have to be so appealing?! Curse it all! It's like when fantasy writers seem to find it necessary to draw one story out into six or more books. I mean, I love writing, too, but say what you wanna say and get it over with! It doesn't have to last for six books!
That's what I think, anyway.
