If you are interested in Korean and Japanese popular music then you may have stumbled upon Sungha Jung already (not in literal of course - at least I don´t hope so!).
Sungha Jung is a 12-year-old guitarplayer from South Korea and despite of his young age and the fact that he isn´t signed by a record label yet, he´s already kind of a star. According his presence in the internet even already a superstar. He´s #2 of the most-viewed Korean musicians of all time on Youtube (#55 of most-viewed musicians of all time worldwide), and even #1 of the most subscribed Korean musicians. He has released about 170 pieces of music up to date, starting in September 2006. Not bad for a twelve year old boy, isn´t it? But the really amazing thing about it is not the quantity but the quality. The reason of this posting is to introduce you to his music, so I uploaded some videos in AVI-format. If you like ém I strongly recommend you to look up his Youtube-Channel, where all his videos are. These include self-composed tracks, stunning coverversions of well-known tracks from acts like The Beatles (Lots of Beatles), Pink Floyd, Extreme, U2, Michael Jackson, Nirvana and many others, as well as guitar-versions of soundtracks from Joe Hisaishi up to Hans Zimmer, many not-so-well-known songs mainly from Japanese and German A-guitarplayers and some classical stuff like Bach and Pachelbel.
So enough of words ("Shut up and play yer guiar!" to say with Frank Zappa), here are some samples in the best possible quality:

MUNote: This is one of his selfwritten songs. He wrote it for his dog,who is named "Coco".
Title: Green grass wave
Original by Komatsubara Shun
File-size: 19.58 MB (.avi)

MUNote: This is one of my favourite instrumental tunes of all time. Komatsubara Shun originally released it on his 1992 Debut-CD "Dear". The version of Sungha Jung is already much more popular than the original it seems. If you try a Google-search on the name "Komatsubara Shun", the first result that doesn´t accord to Sungha Jung is on page 16 !! I´ve even seen an entry of someone stating he was currentley listening to "Komatsubara Shun by Sungha Jung", thinking that Komatsubara Shun wasn´t a person but a Song-Title written by Sungha.I could imagine that Komatsubara-san is slightly depressed of that fact (I don´t know it of course)
Title: Blue bear
Original by Don Ross
File-size: 21.98 MB (.avi)

MU Title: Jump
Original by Van Halen
File-size: 22.11 MB (.avi)

MUNote: This rocks!
Title: Living on a prayer
Original by Bon Jovi
File-size: 25.01 MB (.avi)

MUNote: This rocks, too! It´s one of the older clips, recorded at the age of ten. I like this one a lot better than the original. Even if it´s played by a 10-year-old boy alone on an accoustic guitar, it has more drive than the electric-full-band-version. Sorry, Ritchie Sambora !^^ (I´m sure that most people will not agree with me on this)
Title: Wedding celebration
Original by Lee Byoung Woo
File-size: 17.71 MB (.avi)

MUNote: A very relaxing song for the end of this post. And yes, the little white thing on the couch is the dog mentioned above, Coco.
P.S.: In a couple of days, Sungha Jung will play his first gig outside of Korea - at Gießen (near Frankfurt) in Germany!! I´m totally sure there is more to come, and I hope you agree with me after watching the videos!
