And I saw a Stargate magazine. So I flipped through it, checking out some of the articles. One of them was coverage from some con earlier this year that had Joe Flanigan and Jason Momoa attending. So I skimmed over the questions and answers and I find something interesting

SG:U...I'm gonna watch it. It'll be the first Stargate anything I've watched while it was still on the air. I've only seen Atlantis. Still have to go through SG-1.
I do have some concerns. First off since I wasn't impressed with how the writing progressed for Atlantis (and I'm talking beyond the Shep/Weir stuff), I'm a little nervous they can pull this off. They are going for a more serious show it looks like and well, they kinda blew that later on in the life of Atlantis. Besides, Stargate (to me) is campy fun. It has good amounts of drama and silliness and I just don't see "Stargate" in those previews. Not what I'm used to anyway.
Second, I'm afraid they are just trying to copy BSG. Which I'm hoping isn't true. I've already seen BSG. I liked it but now anything that tries to be like BSG will just fall flat. It's not unique anymore. Unique to the Stargate world, sure, but we've all been there, done that. I don't think it will help SG:U if it comes off as a lame version of BSG.
Third, yet again, they are trying things cut off from Earth completely. They don't seem to be able to sustain that writing wise. I'm just not so sure they can keep it up with again, falling into more BSG territory.
I'm nervous. I want it to succeed because more Stargate is a good thing and maybe that will show MGM they should make the Atlantis movie and all that. But I'm not sold yet.

I know what you mean about SG:U and I think they're going to have difficulty maintaining the separation from Earth, and you're right, apart from The Shrine and Vegas the last season imo was nowhere near as good as the previous 4 (although 4 looked at bit rough towards the end). My opinion could also however be a bit biased as I really loved Torri being in the series and when they screwed her over I just kind of lost faith in the series as a whole :-( Only carried on watching because of Joe really... :-P *fingers crossed for the Atlantis movie (even though we know Torri won't be in it :'-()*
