Rant-Vampire Diaries: The Struggle
I know this is a day or two late, but as promised i said i was going to put up my rant on the first three chapters of the second book in the vampire diaries series, the struggle, and here it is. There are spoilers so i you havent read the series, beware.
Overall, so far so good. I am only through the first three chapters, but so far the emotions and actions feel a lot more real. In the first book there was a lot more questioning of the authors actions, but in this one im doing ok. The only thing that was a little off was the commentary from Matt. When Matt finds Elena, Meredith, and Bonnie at the bridge and they tell him that Bonnie is psychic all of a sudden the only task on hand is Bonnie defending herself about how she is a witch. I mean yes she should defend her self but the wording that was used was kind of corny and a little too much. I really dont know how to explain it, but i didnt care for it. The second instance with Matt was when the find Stefan. He is half dead in an abandoned well, because someone who Matt knows absolutely nothing about put stefan in there to never be found and die and Matt picks this time to make jokes about Bonnie and her powers? Not to mention that the jokes were very dry and lame. I mean shouldnt he be asking if Stefan is ok? how did this happen? Who did this? How did Elena know? How theyre going to save him? He could even just sit there and be jealous over Elena love towards Stefan, but no instead he sits there and makes stupid jokes. Not the right time Matt. I understand that if Matt asked who did it or what happened that that would have caused problems in the story, because what is Stefan supposed to say to that, but thats human nature to ask those questions. I just think the author took lazy escape route to get around those kinds of predictable questions from Matt. I understand that the girls didnt ask them, because Elena already told them that she cant explain it to them and how they need to just trust her and help her, thats understandable.
I guess thats it for the rant. How much did you really expect from only three chapters? Well if it was really awful then there would be more to rant about, but so far only that one incident =)
