How To Solve A Noise Problem
1) Breathe, count to twenty, and calm down... it's J-Term.
2) Leave the room, climb the stairs, knock on the culprit's door and ask them to keep it down.
Usually, this solves the problem as the noise makers are unaware they are creating an issue for others. If it does not solve the issue, proceed to step 3:
3) Make use of the telephone if it is convenient, and tell the noisy people you can still hear them.
If noise still persists,
4) Notify SA or HP and let them handle it.
Failing that,
5) Call Public Safety.
Skipping immediately to step 5 is not only bitchy, but if you believe in karma, you're in for it. It's like calling the police for an incident of littering on the Mass Pike. It's like blowing up someone's car when they're double-parked at the mall. Regardless of what's going on at a gathering, chances are you'll eventually host/attend a gathering like it and will expect some discression on the part of your dorm-mates.
