No Yaya Experiment: Month 23

Apr 04, 2013 10:41

We're due for another celebration soon. We've also been asked, "So you're really not getting a yaya anymore?"

No. We've moved to a larger space and have room for a yaya now, but we have trust issues. Which we will work on if/when that second child comes, but we will cross that bridge when we get there.

At this stage the baby is now a little girl, and she really is learning new things so quickly. She is a sponge. She repeats words she hears (so now we have to be careful about what we say). She counts to 20. She watches Youtube videos teaching her to count to 20. My mom gave her a Leaptop that teaches her an animal for every letter of the alphabet (which is weird because Q is "Queen Bee" and B is "bumblebee" and Y is "yak" and it's all impractical but never mind, she is a sponge).

krude's mom's friend asked if we were doing anything special to teach her stuff, and for me it's really just noticing the cues. Little Girl is vocal when she wants to learn something. She knows how to say "This?" and it means she wants to know what it is, and we answer. At first she was into colors, wanting to know the color of everything, and now she's into numbers and letters. And also phrases. She has pointed to a stuffed toy that fell on floor and said "cat fall" and "cat floor." She points to our shoes and says "mama shoes" and "papa shoes." When we were traveling recently and krude and I switched backpacks, she looked confused and said "papa bag" and I explained to her that I was indeed wearing "papa's bag."
