Fleeing the Scene (Chamber, Penny, and Sofia)

Jono lead the way down the block, his steps speeding up as the vans pulled up in front of the Devil's Due. No, he most definatly did not want to get involved with the Avengers, not today. He just wanted to make sure the girl got home alright, then grab what little sleep he could before he had to go to work. He stuffed his hands in his pockets as ( Read more... )

Sofia nodded and, when he had left the two, started towards the phone booth. Looking down at the quarters in her hand, Sofia stood in front of the phone trying to figure exactly what she was going to tell Ms. Collins. If she was correct about her theory, she might already know of the random disappearances from Laurie. If this Dr. Sinesis was daring enough to take kids from New York City in midday, she would definantly take Xavier students that were out on the town.

Picking up the phone and sliding the quarters into the slot, she dialed in the numbers and waited for the firmiler voice to answer. "Ms. Collins? Yes, it's me. Yes, yes, I'm alright. I'm sorry I didn't call you sooner, I just now was able to get to a phone..."

After a few more minutes of explaining and reassuring, Sofia hung up the phone. It was just as she had thought, about 5 students had been taken and were most likely still in Maine waiting for a ride back to Salem Center from the X-men. She bit her lip, stepping out of the booth and looking over at Penny. "I hope everyone there had gotten out safely."

Penny regared Sofia solemnly, head tilted to one side. Slowly, she looked at the sky, then the girl, then the phone booth before shrugging her shoulders.

A car... and that was being nice about it... rumbled down the street like an old and unhappy god, little more than a collection of rust, primer, and duct tape. It looked like it was probably older than Sofia, and that it would fall apart in a stiff breeze. Penny turned towards the car and did something that was probably the closest equivilant of a sigh that she could produce.

The beast rolled to a stop in front of the girls, and Jono leaned out the window. It's safer than it looks, I promise. he said. Hop on in.

Penny pulled open the back door, which screamed in protest, and climbed inside.

Sofia wasn't quite convenced that that thing could ever be safe, but beggers can't be chosers. Following Penny's lead, she opened the front door, cringing at the high pitched squeal it created, and set herself slowly into the seat. She had to be careful, who know how much weight this thing could take before collapsing.

"I told Ms. Collins about what happened," she started after a quick inspection of the car's interior. "She told me that at least 5 students from Xavier's went missing... I believe they have gone to retrieve them from Maine."

Good to know. Jono said with a little nod as the beast rolled down the street, grumbling and coughing its protests with every foot. Don't bother with the seat belts, Penny sliced the bloody things to ribbons weeks ago.

The interior was surprisingly comfortable, despite the car's outward appearance... if a little miss matched and patched together. It looked like someone had to replace bits of the apholstry every few days.

Penny's fingers sliced through the back seat as she settled herself, explaining the rather patched appearance.

The interior smelled like gas, one of those pine scented air fresheners, and apples.

Hope you ain't in too much trouble with your folks.
