So you might as well have a good time

The elevator doors 'ding'ed open and Eli entered the Tower. He'd had a nice, long ...involved talk with his grandparents about being a super hero and being more polite to Captain America and how he was never allowed to scare them like that againNow his only question was where was everyone else ( Read more... )

The Tower was quiet today. After Cassie yelled at him and stormed out Kristoff had (eventually) gone to look for her.

"I haven't seen you in some time." Kristoff folded his arms and looked at the Young Avenger. He paused.

He would at least try to get along with Cassie's friends. "Are you feeling better?"

"Yeah, I am." Eli said, eyeing Kristoff suspiciously. "Any idea why the Tower's so quiet today? It seems a bit unusual."

Well, it might not be anyone he was hoping to see, but at least the Tower wasn't completely abandoned. Kristoff didn't seem to be his usual, annoying self, which was also good.

"I came by to see how everyone was doing."

"I don't know why. I usually don't leave my lab." Kristoff paused. "The others must be somewhere in the Tower, we aren't supposed to leave."

If Cassandra left the tower it was going to be his turn to yell at her. She at least could have brought him along for protection.

"Mm." Eli replied in non-committal tone. That probably meant that the others had left the Tower. The Young Avengers as a whole weren't that good about following the orders of authority figures. Eli would probably say that it was both a strength and a weakness of theirs, but they seemed to have most things in hand without the adults barging in and taking over.

They probably could have dealt with the Kree soldiers on their own.

Eli knew that most teenagers tended to act as if they were never going to die. Considering that he'd just been shot in the stomach, though, he was willing to bet that he had a better perspective on it.

"Well, let's see if we can find anyone." he said, turning and heading down the hall. He wondered if Kristoff was going to follow or not.

The Young Avenger hadn't yelled at him or rolled his eyes, this was a good sign. Kristoff followed Eli down the hall. He didn't have anything to say, so he was quiet. It was probably best that way.

In front of them, Molly stumbled blearily out of a room and crossed the hall in her pajamas. Water is heard, and then she comes back out into the hallway again with a toothbrush in her mouth brushing lazily. She notices them before she gets back to the Runaways quarters and turns to look at them. Her eyes are half lidded as she tilts her head. She's thinks that she's seen these two, but she doesn't recognize them much.

"Mmph mmrphh fff." Trying to talk around a toothbrush never works very well.

((Past tense please))

"Hey there...Molly, was it?" Eli said, trying to resist the urge to crouch down to her height. He wasn't sure if she's appreciate it. She acted like she was eight or something, but she looked twelve. "I'm Eli, this is Kristoff. You've probably seen us in costume more often than not."

"Mm Mmmmph mmm mm..."

Molly stopped trying to talk around the toothbrush and held her finger up as if to say 'one sec'. She disappeared back into the bathroom. More water was heard, a few spitting noises, some heavy brushing, more spitting, and finally she emerged, her teeth seeming to gleam more brightly.

"Hi! Yeah, I'm Molly! Nice to meet you!" She grabbed his hand and pumped it a few times. Impossibly, the toothpaste seemed to have reinvigorated her. Perhaps it was meeting new people, though...people who wore costumes.

"Yeah...you're the Captain America kinda guy! That's so cool that you get to wear a costume. I wish my friends would let me wear a costume..." She looked up at Eli, then frowned a little. "Heeey...the bigger Captain America tried to stick us in foster homes...you're not gonna do that, are you? The X-Mansion smells funny." She wrinkled her nose a little. "Like old people."

"I'm not going to try to stick you anywhere." Eli said. He leaned in conspiritorally. "The Avengers aren't exacty fond of my team either. I think they're full of it."

And that was pretty much Eli's limit for talking with little kids. Teddy apparently knew how, but Eli couldn't quite grasp it.

"Do you know where everyone else is? I just got here and I can't find anyone."

"That's good." She grinned. Molly hadn't thought this guy would ship her off, but you never knew... "You think they're full of it too? That's what my friends're always saying!! We should team up more, like a crossover or something! That would be totally awesome ( ... )

Kristoff refused to believe he was ever a child. He failed to understand half the things the girl was saying. He looked to Elijah. "What is 'Cribs'?" He asked quietly.

"It's a TV show about the homes of the rich and famous." Eli replied, resisting the urge to roll his eyes and ask Kristoff what rock he'd crawled out from under. Eli didn't even watch that much TV and he knew what Cribs was. Of course, they might not have it in Latveria, what with the rich and famous there pretty much consisting of Doctor Doom; so maybe it was just as good that Eli had resisted.

"Sure, that sounds good." he said to Molly. Maybe Karolina would know where his team had disappeared to.

"Doesn't what we're doing now count as a crossover anyway?"

Molly nodded quickly, still smiling. "Just lemme get my regular clothes on!"

As she started to go into the room, he responded to her comment about crossovers. She paused for a moment, considering. They were kinda hanging out and stuff. But..

"Maybe kinda. I just mean we need some kind of giant evil villain guy to work together on, but not some boring old second stringer. A big one, that we have to team up on. Like...Like...Dr. Doom!" Naturally, she had no idea that Kristoff was related to the supervillain in any way.

"I'll be right back!"

She disappeared into her room and it wasn't long before she popped back out, new hat and all. As she stood there, she looked down the hallway both ways, perplexed.

"Okay, I'm ready! But I don't know where the elevator is..."

Kristoff's face tiwtched. That allusion to fighting rattled loose some memories of Doom's.

"I doubt Doom would take an interest in a group of adolescents and a prepubescent. Unless I were to provoke him in some manner."

"You'd be surprised at the number of people we've managed to upset." Eli replied wryly. "We tend to stick with Avengers' villains though, so Doom may take awhile to get to. The elevator's this way." he added to Molly, heading back the direction that he and Kristoff had come.

"Cool Captain America is right!" Molly had established that Eli was cool merely by the fact that he wasn't all uptight and stuff like the old Captain America that smelled like Old Spice. "But me and my friends get mostly second stringers. Except for the creepy old gods that don't like us. And the Ultron that's no longer supported by Microsoft. But he pretended to be Dr. Doom!"

The elevator arrived and they stepped on it, riding up to the pleasant Muzak that was piped in through unseen speakers. Molly rocked back and forth on her heels, her hands shoved into her pockets as she stared up at the floor numbers changing. Then she remembered something Kristoff had said.

"You can provoke Dr. Doom? How?"
