Cruising under your radar, watching from the satellites

The Vision felt rather at loose ends. He'd locked himself up in one of the labs to work on modifying the cameras so that they'd hopefully be able to weather Billy's annoyance, but he was pretty sure that there was nothing else he'd be able to do with it ( Read more... )

Mr. Immortal whistled as he walked through the mansion. He saw the Vision and smiled.

"Hey, did I see skrulls? I had some rubbel fall on me and then I found myself waking up in an alleyway. I always miss the good stuff."

"[Yes, we did.]" the Vision said, blinking. "[The Skrulls and the Kree attacked the Tower looking for Teddy.]" he frowned a bit. "[But that was a few days ago, sir. How long have you been awake? I should think that we would have seen you when we were cleaning up.]"

He shrugged a little.

"I woke up with a bad headache, might have been last night. I think I was a little away from the tower. Deadpool got me this bad once, Flatman says I was out for a week."

"[I see.]" the Vision said, watching carefully for signs that Mr. Immortal might not be who he said he was. He didn't think that the Kree and the Skrulls would have figured out Teddy's and the Super-Skrull's face-swap so quickly, but in this situation, a little suspicion seemed reasonable.

"[I'm glad that you're all right.]" he continued. "[Everyone else survived the attack as well. Have you seen anyone else yet to let them know that you are all right?]"

He shrugged.

"I saw Iron Man, though he walked in the opposite direction, pretending I didn't exist. Your the first one to acknowledge me."

"[That seems unusual.]" the Vision said, furrowing his brow. Perhaps he ought to hack into the survelliance to get a feel for what was going on in the Tower. Doing that always made him feel vaguely creepy, though, so he would probably just end up accepting it as a part of locking himself away. Unless other unusual things were happening...

The Vision snapped himself out of his thoughts. "[Forgive me, I'm a little distracted.]"

"Your talking to a guy who was trapped under rubble for a few days. Distracted isn't exactly a new word for me. Ever have a grenade thrown at you or your head lopped off? Those are two other things deadpool seems to like doing to me."

He smiled and looked at Vision.

"Cloudy thoughts?"

"Ever have a grenade thrown at you or your head lopped off?"

The Vision blinked a bit and mutely shook his head in response. It sounded rather like being Mr. Immortal was an...interesting sort of life.

"[Something like that.]" the Vision replied in answer to the non-rhetorical question. "[I've just been trying to take my mind off of some things, hoping that they'll make more sense when I come back to them. Thus far, it hasn't worked very well.]"

Mr Immortal nodded. He knew a little about such things. He thought for a minute and then smiled at the vision.

"Can I offer advice? Thats if it wouldn't be too out of line for you?"

"[I am not sure that you've experienced these particular issues, but the thought is appreciated.]" the Vision replied.

[Have you ever had your brain hijacked by what might be Kang the Conqueror?]

Not exactly something that the Vision wanted to share with anyone. Not until he had figured it out himself.

He shrugged and thought again.

"Well easy way to get your mind off some things....you ever play cards before? Me and the guys play all the time.....when we aren't stopping evil of course."

"[No, I haven't played cards.]" the Vision replied. "[I've played chess and some other strategy games, but not cards. Could you teach me?]"

He smiled at the vision asking.

"Of course I could. Ummm what are you thinking? Poker? black jack? war?"

"[I've never played any card games before.]" the Vision replied. "[Well, besides Solitare, but I don't think that counts. What would you suggest?]"

Perhaps he sounded a little over-eager. But modifying things electronic was almost first-nature to him, perhaps learning something new would allow him distraction enough that he could change his perspective.

"Well first thing we need is a deck of cards. We'll start with something simple, like go fish."

((OOC: God, is it bad that I swear I can see Dan slott actually witing the GLC actually sitting around playing cards?))

"[I think I know where we could find a deck of cards.]" the Vision said, trying to mask a slight case of disappointment. "Go Fish"? He was unfamiliar with card games, not a child.

But if Mr. Immortal thought that they should start with Go Fish, then they'd start with Go Fish.

"[This way.]"

((OOC: I've actually got scans of a comic where a bunch of super heroes play poker. Spider-Man wins - "winning" including beating Kingpin :D More super heroes need to sit around playing cards))
