They've come to get me again, the cloud is over my head

(Open to All)

Not good enough, Billy thought, staring blankly at the punching bag in front of him. Not strong enough. I can’t do anything. His hands clenched. I couldn’t stop them from destroying my home, or from coming after Teddy. I couldn’t help Eliza. He looked at his hands. “What’s the point?” he asked himself aloud. “What’s the point ( Read more... )

Victor took Billy's arms in hold again and guided him through another few motions, before having him punch again. "Oh? Anyone I've met in the building so far?" He chuckled lightly to himself.

Cassie smirked. "You mean like his boyfriend?" She didn't know how Victor had missed that, then again she hadn't seen him on the roof earlier.

Hm, she needed to get a camera and start taking pictures of Billy and Teddy, either for blackmail or just so the couple could have cute pictures of the two of them. She pushed to the back of her mind the thought that added how they'd especially want that if one of them died.

Victor blinked. "Wait, boyfriend?" He abruptly became very aware of his positioning with Billy. "You mean you're a ladybug?" He tried not to just jump away in surprise, but he was clearly a little shaken up. (OOC: Mexican slang for a gay male; only about as offensive as the 'queer eye' term)

Billy blinked, cocking his head to one side. "What," he asked, "does your usage of 'ladybug' mean, exactly?" He swept a hand through his hair, his face carefully blank as he took in Victor's reaction. He had long ago accepted the fact that there were people out there who were going to be biased against him because of his sexuality, but that didn't mean he had to like it.

Victor shook his head to re-orient himself, letting Billy's arms go. "It's not like... a bad thing to phrase it as. Just... some slang from where my Mom is..." He paused "--was from. If anything, it's only about as offensive as that show with the makeover guys in the overpriced shirts."

He fidgeted a bit, grinding one of his heels into the mats. "I mean.. I'm cool with it, I swear, just was kind of unexpected, and I'll admit Cassie might want to have waited until I wasn't entangled with you before telling me." He rubbed the back of his head, nodding reassuringly to Cassie to make it clear he wasn't upset with her, or anyone really.

Billy held up two fingers, his face still very blank. "Point one: I have a boyfriend, who I love more than anything. Point two: you're cute, but you're not my type. Just so we're all clear." He arched an eyebrow, keeping his hands at his sides. He was tempted to cross his arms over his chest, but that was a defensive posture, and he was not going to come off as defensive.

Victor nodded. "Hey, no problem." He chewed his bottom lip, feeling like the world's biggest tool at the moment. "We cool?"

OOC: Kat's been having a brain dead month. I blaim it on the cold.

"We're cool," Billy said after a moment's thought, giving a small nod.

Victor smiled in relief. "Okay... cool." He looked between Teddy and Cassie awkwardly now. "You guys wanna go for a jog or something? Heck, up and down the stairwell even once or twice has to count for a block or two." He laughed, still feeling a bit like an ass.

OOC: *trying to remember when Teddy got into the room*

"I was actually planning on visiting a friend of mine," Billy said, swiping a hand over his hair. "Eliza," he added to Cassie. "But I'm sure she wouldn't mind a few other people."

"Eliza?" Cassie latched onto the subject change. "I was going to track Kristoff down," fter talking to Billy. Eventually... "But that can wait." For a few more days.

“Is he still being all… Kristoff-y?” Billy asked. There had been times when he’d been tempted to at least try making nice with Kristoff, but the boy was, at best, off-putting.

Not that he was going to point this out to Cassie just then. He was her friend, so there had to be something redeemable about him. Nobody could be that much of an ass all the time.

“But yeah. Anyway. She hasn’t been answering her phone. I wanna make sure she’s okay after… everything.”

Sometimes Cassie wished her friends would at least pretend they didn't hate Kristoff. "Actually I wanted to ask him why he and Vision got into a fight." She paused. "Maybe that falls under being all Kristoff-y." Still, Vision knew better.

Cassie remembered what Eliza had said about Billy wanting to fix things that he couldn't. Poor Eliza. Crap, Cassie hoped she didn't just listen in on that thought.

“I’m sure they both have their reasons.”

Billy didn’t say anything about what he suspected those reasons might be. He felt the urge to meddle - honestly, he felt the urge to lock Cassie and Vizh in a closet together until they worked things out between them, and then ship Kristoff back to Latveria - but Teddy had asked him not to unless he absolutely had to, and things did not yet fall under the heading of ‘Absolutely Have To’.

“Want me to snag you some nosh while I’m visiting? I’m sure I can talk Mrs. Xanathos into sending a care package back with me. Maybe some Still Warm Flesh of the Living would do Kristoff some good.”

Or burn his tongue off.

Either way.

Cassie bit her lip to keep her from saying anything. Starting an argument in front of Victor, who didn't understand any of this at all, would be rude.

"I think right now all he wants is his nose, arm, and armor fixed." Kristoff hadn't left what he'd unofficially claimed as his lab since the Kree-Skrull fight. She'd bumped into him a few times the kitchen and he always made a hasty retreat back to the lab after some small talk.

“Someone very wise once told me that a boy is supposed to eat his weight in food twice a day,” Billy said sagely, feeling just the smallest twinge of guilt as he thought about the damage that Vision had done to Kristoff, and his continued avoidance of the other boy (not that Kristoff made avoiding him hard). “Think he’d be mad at me if I stopped in to see him, maybe see if I could do something about his injuries?”
