Werid Science (tag in, o captured ones!)

Florecent lights buzzed gently in the gunmetal grey corridor as Dr. Vanessa Sinesis walked down it, looking in on her newest specimines. A small smile tugged at her cupid bow lips, which she caught in the wall's reflection. The smile widened a bit as she regarded her still smooth and pale skin, and her carefully styled red hair. She smoothed a ( Read more... )

Once Kate began to come around, she regained consciousness quickly enough. She and Cassie had been put in a bland-looking room with what looked like a transparent wall that gave a view of a hallway and two other occupied rooms. At the moment, the boys were all still unconscious. Wimps.

Suitably annoyed, Kate sat up and moved to try shaking Cassie awake. There was something around her neck, though, and it occurred to Kate that there was a weight around her own neck as well. She touched it tentatively--it didn't shock her or try to choke her or anything, so maybe a power dampener? But she didn't have any powers. Either the people who'd captured them had bad intel or these things did something else. Considering the little metallic guy who'd been in The Devil's Due earlier was now sharing a cell with Billy, it was probably the former.

Cassie was barely aware of someone shaking her. She blinked her eyes open. "Sorry," She sat up. "What-" Her eyes both came into focus and her brain started to understand what she was seeing.

"Kate, where are we? What happened?"

She grabbed the collar type thing around her neck. "And what is this?" She tried to pull it off. She tried shrinking to get it to come off. Uh oh. "Uhm, Kate, I can't use my powers."

((All fixed. Anna had to go to class, so I'm covering for her just now.))

"I thought so," Kate said. No powers seriously limited their escape options, and she wasn't looking forward to waiting for a rescue. This was going to take some serious brainstorming.

"Hey, guys!" she hissed, hoping it would pass through the wall or window or whatever it was. "Any of you awake yet?"

Billy groaned. "I think I'm dead," he announced, wincing at the sound of his own voice. His head felt like someone was pounding on it with a jackhammer, and his stomach...

He only just made it to the toilet in the corner of the tiny cell in time to hurl the contents of his stomach into the bowl. He was like that for some time, until he felt like he was about to bring up his intestines.

Tommy was indeed awake, and feeling a little sick and lightheaded, and cursing quietly under his breathe. There was something wrong; he'd gotten used to a weird tingly rush after his powers had kicked in, like endless energy waiting to get out, but he was feeling none of it. He felt flat. He looked around, about to ask if anyone else was having similar trouble when his surroundings finally hit him.

No…he was so not…they were not…there was just no way. Tommy sat still for a moment, letting the obvious sink in. He smiled wanly and bowed his head. Of course.

Not even free a whole day.

A groan escaped Sofia's lips as she began to come to. Last thing she remembered was looking over books at the store before suddenly feeling sleepy. Opening her eyes, she realized quickly that she wasn't at the bookshop anymore.

Sitting up, Sofia spied a girl about her own age in the corner. "Are you alright?" she inquired, noticing the girl was shivering. She started to crawl towards her, but stopped when she noticed the girl trying to curl into the corner even more than she already was.

This wasn't good. Sofia took a moment to see if she could bring some sounds to her to get some idea where they might be, but was unable to make the tiniest breeze. 'It must be this collar,' she concluded, touching her hand to the metal object around her neck. She had lived at Xavier's long enough to know of power inhibitors.

Kate's voice brought her attention to the others around her. So her and her cellmate weren't the only ones stuck here. Though she knew they were probably just as clueless as she was, Sofia asked the question on everyone's mind. "Where are we?"

"We should probably ask Tommy that," Teddy said, his voice carrying down the row of cells. "Since he seems to be familiar."

Thank goodness /some/ people were starting to wake up -- whatever gas they'd used to knock them all out in the ice cream shop hadn't quite worked right on him -- maybe alien blood was useful for something, after all; he'd awakened too early, or so his hazy memories informed him, because he remembered the kick that has caused the massive bruising in his side before he'd been dragged into the cell. It should've healed by now, but he guessed that the technology being used to keep Tommy's powers in check also worked on his own physiology, alien blood proving not so useful after all.

"I mean, these are your kidnappers, right? Mine would just try to take me and kill everyone, not take everyone captive."

((OOC: I'll be using the Rowena account to run Eliza))

"I know who it is..." Eliza whispered from where she sat, trembling. "The dead shall be the lucky ones."

She stood up, going to the very edge of the forcefeild, and looking at everyone with unblinking wide eyes. They seemed to shine with a kind of madness. "She's coming," she whispered. "The Mantis. And she will hurt us and hurt us but she wont ever let us die because she hates... ooooh how she hates...!"

With a shudder, Eliza collapsed in a heap, staring up at the ceiling. She hadn't even acknowledges Sophia's presence nearby.

Immediatly, Sofia ran to Eliza's side to help her in any way she could. It was obvious whoever this Mantis was was effecting the girl greatly. At a loss, she looked over at the other captives in hopes they had a clue who this Mantis was.

"Hmurgh? Gwaaagh..." This was the extent of Zack's speaking capability at this point. 'This must be what drunk feels like...' As he sat up, he realized that he wasn't in the ice cream parlor anymore. At least, not unless Mrs. X did some SERIOUS remodelling in the last 2 hours.

Also, it looked like HE had done some remodelling, too. He felt lighter, weaker, more fragile.

He wasn't metal anymore.

"Whuh? What? AAAAH! Oh my god, what happened? I-I-I... what's going on?

((OOC: Too lazy to switch journals))

Eliza jerked away from Sophia, screeching, "Don't touch me! Please don't touch me it hurts!"

Billy was clinging for dear life to the toilet bowl not far from Zack. "We've been kidnapped by the goverment." he said weakly.

Zack was still freaking out. "The government? What does the government want with me? What do they want with you? What... why... but... uck..."

Zack made a beeline for the toilet and tried to shove Billy out of the way. Billy only moved an inch or two, and he probably did that to avoid the stream of vomit Zack released.

"Huh... ah... I'm so weak..."

Cassie had been kidnapped enough times to skip past the shocked phase.

"We'd better start finding a way to get these collars off." She started to feel around hers, trying to find something that felt like she could somehow pry it open. "Kate, can you help me?"

Sofia stepped back from Eliza with wide eyes. "I'm sorry!" she cried out, feeling horrible that she made her more uncomfortable than she already was. This wasn't working out very well.

Kate looked around the room, but her purse was gone, which was a problem. Getting access to it was going to be her first step, then.

"In a minute," she said to Cassie. She turned her attention to the hall and raised her voice. "Hello? Crazy kidnapper people! You there? I could really use my purse back right now! I hear you're pretty sadistic, but unless I get my purse back you're going to lose a victim to toxic shock syndrome!"

"Kate," Cassie snapped. "This is more important than that. We've all left tampons in longer than we should and no one's died. Give me a hand here!" She couldn't believe Kate was worrying about her uterus at a time like this. And thus far she had found nothing on her own.

Kate grabbed Cassie's shoulders and looked her straight in the eyes. "Cassie. I need. My. Purse. It is vital." Trust me.
