I found this thing on my floor.
Its a flat folder, made of plastic or something. The cover is white, with red, yellow, green, and blue lines crossing over it. There is a sticker on the front, with the logo Temple Beth Am Early Childhood Center. The title is "Japan." The author/illustrator is "Gemma Solomons." The grade is "Pre-k" and the date is "June 1994."
Its a project I did when I was in preschool. My class did a project on Japan.
The first page, after the title page, reads "In my class, I learned a lot about Japan." Then I had drawn a crude rainbow fan, and the Japanese flag, which is just a red circle.
The next page is "I learned a lot of Japan words." and then I had written in purple crayon Konnichiwa and Sayonara
The next page says "I love dressing up in Japan clothes." Someone had glued a picture of me and my teacher. I am wearing a turquoise kimono. My hair is in a pony tail, and I'm wearing alot of make-up. I remember being the only kid wearing make-up. Next to the picture I drew, again in purple crayon, a drawing of me in the kimono. My body is a square. My arms and legs are lines. My hair is just a scribble on top of my head.
The next page says "My favorite project was making beautiful fans." This time I used an orange crayon to draw myself. Same rectangular body. Same lines for the legs and arms, except in this picture, one of the arms(lines) is holding a blue, red, and purple upside down triangle. A fan.
The last page reads "Painting the scenery was fun." Back to the purple crayon, it seems. My legs look a little longer in this picture. Or maye it was just my four-year old self's wishful thinking. I'm holding a purple stick with a black circle at the end: a paintbrush. I'm standing in front of a blank rectangle. My canvas. Its blank.
And that is how the book ends.
