crimeland Aaron was in total shock when he saw the complete change of costume from Spiderman to a whole suit and tie ensemble. Jack was very adamant that he was going to be Spiderman for Halloween. The SSA knew that his only son inherited many of his qualities, especially since taking moving in with him permanently. Stubbornness was unfortunately one of them. Once Jack made a decision it was often hard for him to change his mind on it.
"Woah, that’s definitely not Spiderman," He said in response.
He inferred that his son was some type of superhero. With all the events that happened this year, Jack had gained a fascination with them. They fought "the bad guys" just like the people that surrounded him. But which superhero wore a suit? Maybe he was Clark Kent before he ripped off the suit. Maybe he wasn’t a superhero. Another theory came from the fact that Jack was spending more time with "Uncle Reid" considering him the older brother he never had.
During those visits Reid made it a point to introduce Jack to the wonderful world of Doctor Who. It worked, Aaron knew that from the one afternoon when he Reid came over during the weekend and Jack and the two men found themselves in the walk-in closet pretending it was the TARDIS. Maybe he was the tenth incarnation of The Doctor.
Aaron looked back at Jack. He stood tall almost professional and business like as he shuffled his feet on the ground.
"He’s not a real superhero," He said.
"He’s not?" Aaron folded his arms. If he wasn’t a real superhero or The Doctor, who could his son be? He was definitely some sort of real life figure, the President, a businessman. At this point he was stumped. He thought it would be better if Jack told him instead. "okay I give up what are you supposed to be?"
A bright smile formed on Jack’s face.
"I’m you daddy."
Aaron’s heart swelled at the worlds, not in sadness, but in happiness. Kids rarely dressed up as their parents. They didn’t have cool identities like a fireman or a policeman or wore some kind of cool uniform. But there was no question that Jack looked up to him as his hero. He made the world safe by putting the most evil monsters behind bars. With his mom taken from him in the most brutal of ways, his father was his rock and foundation to lead and to guide him. And at the end of the day with all the darkness he seen it was satisfying to know that he meant the world to his son as Jack meant the world to him.
And with that thought Aaron walked over to Jack and hugged him tight. One day when Jack was old enough he would tell him how much of a hero to him as well, for he was the one to lead him out of the darkness during his darkest time as well.
"Let’s go get some candy alright little man."
