Five years ago my sister Katniss was in this position with Gale. I wasn't there when the event happen but I saw it on my tiny television screen, but though the image was so small, so grainy and was not vivid as the people in The Capitol and the wealthier Districts saw it , it is still etched in my memory as a horrifying event.  It was just the two of them left and Gale screamed at Katniss to kill him and Katniss just cried begging him not to make her.

In the end Gale did the job for her and my sister became the 74th unfortunate soul to become a Hunger Games Victor. Katniss became a person I didn't recognize. Someone broken and sad. I didn't really understand why she was acting the way she did.

But now that I am pushed into the same corner as her, staring at Gale's brother Rory dumbfounded that the Gamemakers changed the rule from it being two tributes can win if they were from the same District to it being one sole winner, definitely as a way to entertain the blood hungry masses, I know why she went crazy. I know why she became so withdrawn and shut out even though she mentored Peeta to victory that very next year. She loved Gale, more than words could possibly express and losing him to the games destroyed her.

I look into Rory's eyes. I can sense what he is about to do. He wants to pull the same stunt as his brother Gale did. Save me so I can go home to my sister so we can both be wallowing messes mourning over the loss of our loves to The Capitol's tyranny.

But I am not Katniss.

She didn't know how the story of her and Gale, the two friends and lovers from District 12, would end. But my story has the same beginning as Katniss', me and a boy who love each other so had their names pulled out of a Reaping Bowl. A possible death sentience in Panem. The stood by each other so long from beginning to end in this grueling process.

But I am the writer of my own tale and it doesn't have to end the same way. I can change the ending. I can change everything.

"I guess this is goodbye," Rory says to me.

I shake my head from side to side as I reach into my pocket.

"It doesn't have to be," I say revealing my secret weapon , the plot twist that will give this story the happy ending. It is Nightlock berries. As a healer I know the plants that can kill you and the plants that could spare you. I knew Nightlock would be a good tool for survival in this circumstance.

"Prim, are you crazy?" He whispers, "The Capitol won't allow it."

"So, it still doesn't prevent us from trying they HAVE to have a victor remember."

Rory is silent for a moment and nods his head. He finally agrees with me. He reaches forward and takes a couple of berries in his hand.

"On three...1,2,3"

The moment we both bring our hands filled with Nightlock towards our mouths.

"STOP!" The announcer cries, "I am pleased to announce the winners of the 80th annual Hunger Games....Primrose Everdeen and Rory Hawthorne!"

We both drop the berries to the ground and run into each other's arms. As the hovercraft looms above us I hold Rory tight, crying into his shoulder. I know we started something....something huge, but for now that didn't matter to me. I got the ending I wanted surviving the horrors of the games with the boy I love.
