I am really enjoying this. I love the relationship you paint for Jack and Will, they have come to terms but there were quite a few issues to deal with to get to this point. So many times these issues are just ignored, but I cannot see either of these men being that "easy".
Will's POV is always enjoyable, he is a mental type, with few words, so this allows one to see how he is thinking. He certainly doesn't harbor any pie in the sky fantasies about Jack. And, I think that is a good thing.
At the risk of sounding totally insane or a complete dork, I have always found that Jack reminds me of our golden retriever. Sweet, loving, devious as hell, stubborn as hell, always up to something yet so contrite and adorable when caught out as to avoid most punishment. Beautiful to look at but a bit smelly up close, especially when wet. Very snuggly. Big brown soulful eyes and whiskers.
Yay! I'm glad you're enjoying this. Relationships are such bizarre things and I like that in fiction we get to see people getting it wrong, and how and why even when they can't.

That may well make Will the German Shepherd police dog - alert, able to be friendly when not actively sniffing out something, and able to back up his physical threat with action... but trained well enough not to exercise force unless it is needed. ;-)
And I'm loving the whole story, and the realistic touch you have in the telling of it. I yearn for stuff that brings the guys to life and you're certainly doing exactly that.
I'm loving the detailed descriptions and I really want to thank you for putting all the adjectives in there since I'm a sucker for knowing about the surroundings and textures and othes sensations sensed with any of the human senses and this is serving to that need.
On top of it all, I'm loving your portrayal of the guys, but then again I always have, and I take my hat off infront of your Ichabod simply because he's...Ichabod.
I'm glad the porn worked! It's been a while since I've written anything and I'm feeling rusty. And thank you, about the adjectives etc. When I was really getting into writing I used to write 90% dialogue until someone pointed that out to me and now I always try to make an effort to practice my scene building.
I always worry that maybe my Ichabod is a little bit too Abberline-ish, but either way, he's fun. He's so fussy and fainty!

Absolutely loving this and I can not wait for the next part! You've got a great Jack and Will here, and they feel true to the who they are, and who they would be after this much time! So fun seeing them in this world as well. I imagine Jack would be a very bright spot in all the gloom, even with the weight of the matter at hand heavy on his heart.
Glad you're enjoying it and that you like the interpretation of Jack and Will. I always assumed I'd never write post AWE because of how irritated I was by a lot of T&Ts writing, but it's been a lot of fun so far. And kind of theraputic actually, getting some meta comments in there ;)

And OH, how he welcomes them. The sex in this chapter was HOT, my friend. No one seems to do interfemoral sex in fanfic, and every time I find it, it's like this dirty sweet sexy little prize. This scene MOST DEFINITELY included.
But the bit I love most about this chapter is this exchange:“Why’d you come?” Jack asked, looking oddly serious.
“In over fifty years,” Will said, not really sure what his answer would be, even as it came out of his mouth, “you’ve never asked me for a favour.” It wasn’t the right answer. Not for Jack, Will thought, and not really for himself either.
Jack let go of Will’s wrist and turned again to stare out the window. “Thought it was seventy,” he said.
Will tugged the bottle out of Jack’s hand and took a fortifying swig. “Seventy years since I became captain,” he said and Jack said “Oh,” and they stood in silence for a while.
