The castle was beautiful beyond words, but it could be a bit cold in the mornings, before the servants had lit all the fireplaces, and Eiji found himself shivering a little as he pulled on his fool clothes. The bells chimed as he moved, and the skin tight, full body main outfit immediately warmed him up. He pulled on the baggy tunic that ended in snibs that reached down to his knees, bells attached to the ends, and then to finish things, he pulled on his hat. There, all set to meet a new day. It was almost time for breakfast, and he had to be there. "Let's go!" He pumped a fist in the air and then opened the door, running down the several hallways of the castle.

Once he got to the main dining hall, the huge room lit up by hundreds of candles, he cartwheeled his way over to the table of honor where the King and the noble men closest to the royal family sat. Eiji did a backflip and ended up on the table, his feet finding a spot between a grilled swan and some truffle pie, as he bowed. "A good mornin' to all you good sirs and lords and ladies, and of course His Highness, nya~!"

At the end of the table sat Raytin's King dressed in heavy morning robes of blue and gold colors. He looked serene with his eyes closed and poised as if in thought, meal fished yet listening to the chatter around him. It filled Atobe with great pride to hear the individual boastings of every day life in his Kingdom. The events that would take place in the near future, and even trades that were happening or were in the works between kingdoms.

Until the telltale tinkering of bells coming swiftly toward the table were starting to become even clearer in his ears. Then there was a loud thump as said bells came to a jingling halt, and it was clear feet landed on his table. Dark sapphire eyes shot open and leveled on his Jester, clearly unamused that he chose the table of all places. "Good morning, Eiji."

Their king was so beautiful, Eiji thought with a wistful smile, then he leaned forward, placing his hands on his hips and sticking his butt out for all the court to see. "Your Majesty looks like He's aten a sour fruit. What ever is the matter? The batter, batter?"

Learning forward, Atobe schooled his face to his most pleasant looking serious face he could. "The Jester decided he would use the table as his personal stage." Steepling his fingers together, Atobe smiled. "Get down, Eiji."

The redhead pouted, but flipped down from the table just the same, making a bow in front of His Highness. "Ooooh, but I need a stage and the whole world is a stage, so making a stage where a stage isn't present is the stage that means the most!"

"The whole floor is yours." Atobe replied, as if to say 'the floor is your stage'. But satisfied that Eiji had listened to him, and it hadn't taken much to get him down, the Raytin King leaned back in his chair and smiled pleasantly once more. "What do you have to show us this morn?"

"But the floor is cold and food is warm, so of course warmth is the way to go." He sneaked out a wiry hand and snatched away a small chicken drumbstick from a plate. "But my show is this, nya~" He jumped over the table, landing on the other side of it, and then jumped again, landing on his hands. He started to walk across the floor, starting to tell a silly story about a pig keeper and fair lady.

The small crowd around him gasped and jeered at Eiji's flexibility, Atobe simply plastered on his best amused expression. He wasn't as enthusiastic about such things as others were because it was a daily occurrence to him - the redhead lived in his castle, after all. However, Eiji's acrobatic show was the highest rate from a human he had ever seen, so Atobe gave him credit where it was due. So early in the morning to be doing this kind of trickery.

Though he did listen to the story, since it seemed new to him.

The applauds echoed through the hall when he finished, along with the laughter. A couple of knights at the far end shook their heads and prodded each other's sides as they whispered to each other, and Eiji wasn't sure he liked the condescending looks they gave him. Oh well, he was the Fool, the person who made a living of being made fun of. He bowed, then hopped onto his hands again and bowed using his feet instead.

Atobe pushed his chair back silently and stood, his robes billowing out around him by the action.

"By the finality of Eiji's performance, breakfast is now over." He announced and waved for everyone to leave as well as kitchen workers to start cleaning the table. However, Atobe's foot steps took him toward the redheaded jester yet stayed far away enough that he wouldn't get hit by feet when the Eiji would undoubtedly spring back to them. Yet said nothing at the moment, not wanting more ears than necessary to hear him.

Someone was standing rather close to him. Eiji blinked and then flipped himself upwards in a proper position, staring at Atobe. "Your... Your Majesty?"

"Walk with me, will you?" It was both a demand and request. Without Eiji's answer, Atobe expected the nimble teenager to follow him as he began to walk down a corridor to somewhere possibly a little more private. A court yard, perhaps? Or was that too public and open? Maybe his chamber would be a better place for a semi-secret meeting?

Eiji blinked, eyes widening. His mouth slightly open, he started to trot after the King, for once quiet, save for the bells that chimed with each step he took.

After some moments of walking throw stone hallway, nothing but the tinkering bells as music between them, Atobe finally spoke. "Can you be trusted with a secret?" His words were a double edged sword that literally put Eiji's life in the balance no matter if he said he could be or not.

Should Eiji prove that he couldn't keep a secret, the nicest thing Atobe could do would be to beat him within an inch of his life and imprison him for however he long he lasted. Yet if he could be, the teen would also be rewarded for his help.

Eiji felt himself pale, and he stopped dead in his tracks, staring at the king. "If... If He would like to confide in someone as lowly as me, I'd be... Honored. Honored to keep His secret, I mean." Was he babbling? That probably wasn't good.

With the sudden jingling sound of Eiji's bells coming to a halt, Atobe too stopped and turned. His dark sapphire eyes gazed at the teenager with a sudden amusement. All of his subjects put him on such a great pedestal - one he wouldn't trade being the King that he was, it was needed for his position - yet it was astonishing to see just how Eiji acted. It softened and strengthened his heart and resolve for many other things that weren't just limited to what he was about to ask of his Jester.

"You're creative enough in mind," Atobe started, hand reaching out to rest gently on the youth's shoulder. "Which is perfect for this task. I want you to help me find a gift for someone." There, the cat was out of the bag. "It should be a secret that is only between us."

Eiji tilted his head to the side, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Oh, that's all? For whom? And what kind of gift?"

That's all? Echoed in Atobe's mind for a moment. A gift from him was nothing short of special, though he tended to gift those around him quite often. "Nevermind who it's for," He ran his hand through his soft light brown locks as if in thought. "This person is not easy to gift, so I thought something simple yet exotic would suffice. Perhaps something you could get from another land on your journeys?"

Eiji's eyes widened. "He... He wants me to leave the court? Does His Majesty want me to find the gift... Outside? Somewhere?" He swallowed. "How soon does He wish for the gift?"

Eiji amused Atobe greatly at that moment. Enough so that he laughed a hearty laugh aloud at his young Jester. "What are you nervous for, Eiji?" Patting the teen's shoulder once more, Atobe finally dropped his hand to his side. "One month is your limit, and it should not interfere with your duties, whatever they are and whenever they may come."

Blink. Uh... His Majesty was laughing at him. Even though he wasn't even putting on an act right now. Oh... Dear? He blushed and nodded. "Well, I... He must understand... I've never... I mean... Not on my own. Like... Nyaa... Why would He trust me with this?"

"If you don't think you're the one for the job, then I'll find someone else to take your place." Atobe cast his gaze behind Eiji for a moment, before it came back to rest on the youth once more.

"No!" A personal request from the King. He would be an idiot for ever and ever if he passed that up, he realized that much. But if he failed... He would probably be flogged and beaten and then maybe executed, but... "I'll do it!"

The smile that graced Atobe's features was one of knowing. Knowing that Eiji wouldn't pass it up, but also that he wouldn't fail. For some reason, he had a feeling that the teen would do any and everything in his own ability to get the task right. "Tomorrow after midnight, come to my chamber, and we'll talk it out in private."

With that, Raytin's King left no more room for actual talking, and started back the way they came.
