Ever since I worked at the Department of Corrections my freshman year, I've been in the State of Florida's online HR system, and they've been providing me with job vacancies every now and then that fit what I'd possibly be good at. Most of the time, they're weird positions, like "Chief Editor for the State's Wildlife Magazine" that I wouldn't really fit into....but today, I got one for "general office clerk" at the Department of Health. The place is right down the road, the wage would easily be more than Gamestop is paying me now, and I might be able to negotiate somewhere around 25-30 hours a week. But most importantly....NO WEEKENDS. I know I'm probably getting my hopes up, but how many people really apply for these positions that are advertised over the state's HR site? It would be an awesome change of work, and I hope they at least want to interview me, because I know I can impress them. I've got my fingers crossed.
