extol was my first legitimate celebrity crush
even though i never got to see them live
now that i think of it i fangirled like never before in my life...
i collected photos and music from them
i could identify all their songs within the first 5 beginning seconds
listened to all their side projects
wrote down their birthdays on my planner
drew their logo in my planner
made them the password for my online accounts
learned norwegian because of them (i still think norwegian is a sexy language...)
bought their merch despite not having a bank account at the time... (i had to beg my adult cousins and my parents and they thought i was crazy)
joined their official forum to stalk them
experienced joy upon acquiring rare/unofficial photos of them (e.g. in speedos, shower caps, in bed, etc...)
and whenever i had to talk about music or celebrities in school or in other places i always made presentations on extol (do you remember our religion presentation on ole børud, ivee?).
and ivee gave me the blueprint dives cd because she's awesome.
and of course you can see traces of the fangirling on my lj...
i think my fangirling was made bolder with immaturity. i would never imagine making presentations on my favourite artist/celebrity now... it seems ridiculously embarrassing.
i was always upset that they never came to toronto and i never got to see them live. i had like two videos of live performances (flevofest + some old burial-era gig in a dark as fuck place i don't know). i think i sucked at searching the internets and that was why i had only two videos. lol. also youtube was a new thing in 2005. there were literally zero videos of extol on youtube back then even though there are tons now.
anyway, if they release an album now
i think they might come to LA. i think they did the last few times they released albums. after all it's a big city.
i would want to go see them if they do come...
