I'm updating again, omg! :O
Not much going on, as per usual. But I saw Star Trek on Monday. One word. Awesome. First Contact is still my favorite Star Trek movie but this one ties for second (with Star Trek... 4? The one with the Whales. I like that one, it's fun~). If you've not seen it yet go do so before they take it out of the theaters (there were only FIVE of us in there). Also, I got the CD I was after, The Best Damn Thing, but it turns out I got the edited CD. The "Hell yeah, I'm the mother F---ing Princess" line isn't so annoying, but the four instances of "Shhh-t" in another song a rather distracting. Honestly, if you're going to edit a song, don't just block the words people, replace them. I'd rather here "Mother effing princess" or "crap" than "f---ing" and "Shhh-t".
Not going to try and replace it, though. Chances are FYE wouldn't have the non-censored version used too (this was the only one I found period while I was there) and chances are I wouldn't be able to pick it up even if they did. I'm not sure what the restrictions are with music around here for age and such. But considering you need photo ID to prove you're 18+ to buy an M rated game, or 17+ to see an R rated movie, I wouldn't be shocked if you need it to get a CD with a Parental Advisory warning on it too. And it's all just too much hassle for me, I'm too lazy for all of that.
Yesterday, though, I sold dad my copy of RE4 so I could go down to the local pawn shop and pick up a new game. They had shit for PS2 games (I was really hoping they still had Soul Reaver 2 so that I could have the full chronolgy (BO1, SR, SR2, and Defiance. BO2 technically follows Defiance but until there's another game out that works off the BO2 events I'm considering it a 'what-if' thing) in order to do a full play through now that I'm finally unstuck in BO1, though granted I need to keep using the health restore code a lot, but only in areas with limited blood resources. >>
Anyway! They didn't have SR2 or any good PS2 titles so I spent time digging through the PS1 games and was pleasantly shocked to find Resident Evil 3. It was a bit scratched up but PS1 games tend to be more durable than PS2 games for that so I got it... and it didn't work. -_- That's 4 out of the last 5 games that hasn't worked. I love the place for price ($7 for any PS2 game and $5 for PS1 games so you can get some real bargins, plus 2 for 1 trade-ins) but it's getting absurd now. Once I get ID I may just go to EB and Gamestop only. Anyway, returned RE3 today (after trying the toothpaste trick and still not getting it to work) and picked up an N64 game instead.
Came down to a choice of one of three. Shadow Man, Beetle Adventure Racing, and Bio FREAKS. I've got Bio FREAKS for the PS1 already but the N64 version looks better and plays better (the controller is MUCH more suited for it than the PS1/2 controller is). But I passed on it since it would amount to just getting the same game I already have. Passed on Beetle Adventure Racing too as I'm only a moderate racing game fan (though Mario Kart I would have absolutely gotten) and while it was a fun game when I played it before racing games don't have long lasting replay value and replay value was what I wanted, something to help keep me entertained until next month when I have money and (hopefully) ID so that I can get something good from EB. Maybe Blood Rayne or something. So, yeah, picked up Shadow Man. (Yay to not needing ID at a pawn shop! HA!)
Had Shadow Man before (twice) and liked it. First time I had it was with the old N64 and I traded it in a long time ago. Got it back when I got the new N64 but traded it in again not long after as I had no cash and had found a copy of LoZ:OoT. No way I was passing up OoT at such a bargin (traded in Shadow Man and Ready 2 Rumble Boxing). Besides, at the time, I didn't have an expansion pak and the game looks like shit on the 64 without it. But now I do and it looks good so over the next few days I shall be bouncing between it and Blood Omen I expect. Blood Omen's fun, but it's like a dark and gothy Zelda and I was never a fan of the original Zelda. OoT was the first Zelda game I liked.
Also, I recently began work on data and outlining for something I've never done before. A re-write. Not just a revision but a complete and utter re-write. I'm going back and completely redoing my first ever published Fanfiction, War for the Universe. The first one had some ok points but I was still little more than a fanboy who just wanted to do things he thought was cool so the fic sucked for that. Not to mention I wasn't nearly as deep in the Dragonball fandom at the time so I had little of my current (excessive) knowledge of the series, which showed through in how poorly some things were handled (such as character strengths and naming puns).
The rewrite (currently titled War for the Universe - Recurrence (Original, no? XD)) is going to address all of those issues. It'll keep only a few of the major key points from the original version but that's about it. The various Original Characters are being majorly retooled (some of them with new information that has only recently come to light, such as the existence of Vegeta's younger brother, Table), the strength scale is being massively readjusted, several elements are being cut with others being added, and so on. Already outlined the first 22 chapters and it's pretty different just in that section (especially since by chapter 22 before, with much shorter chapters, it was already much further along in the story XD).
Speaking stories and writing, NaNo is coming up again in just 5 months. @_@ I'm not sure just yet what I'm going to do this year, though. Got a few ideas but nothing that grabs me just yet....
And that's enough rambling by me for today. Going to bo back to listening to The Best Damn Thing and reading Naruto now.
