(no subject)

Last year, if you recall (no, you don't, I know), I called out Gnarls Barkley's St. Elsewhere as being album of the year (to date) in April, and it seems the masses followed my taste quite well and jumped on the Gnarls bandwagon throughout the year (and while I downloaded the album before it was released, I paid my dues and caught them live at Lollapalooza).

So it is without further ado that I present to you with my pick for dopest track of 2007 (to date): Aesop Rock's "None Shall Pass". The album hasn't leaked yet, so I can't speak for the rest of it (his lyrics are pretty unintelligible live, so it's hard to say from his performance at Bonnaroo last weekend if it's going to be as solid), but this track is off the hook.

Now I realize Aesop is up against considerable pressure here, as both UNKLE and the Chemical Brothers have served up some pretty rad albums, but None Shall Pass easily holds its own against Chemical's Salmon Dance, which is also off the hook.

That is all.
