Look-alike contest
It's official: I look like Jude Law.
First it was just Leisha and Dan that mentioned a slight resemblance. I thought it was the lighting. Then Leisha told of her friend at work who mentioned it, then I got it from two of the spunky black 20-somethings that work with me at American Cafe. After that, I thought I might have some analogous features, but I still wasn't buying it. But today was the icing on the cake.
12:49 PM - Waffle House: One of the cooks--a young, heroin-skinny black guy--was sitting at the bar near me laughing to someone on his phone. His laugh was particularly annoying; it was like making a "ck" sound, but prolonging it and forcing air out of your mouth at the same time while delivering it in firm staccato bursts. It's only black guys that do this, and it's like nails on a chalkboard to me. The restaurant was empty, and the guy on the other end of the phone was apparently willing to waste some minutes as the cook turns to me and gives me the usual, "Hey, dog! You play ball?" I looked up with chewed waffle hanging from my mouth and shook my head. Later, as I went up to pay the bill, he spouted, "You, dog! You who you look like?" I said I didn't. "That Jude Law motherfucker," he proclaimed. I thought about saying something about how if I were Jude Law, I might have gotten my glass of water refilled at least one fucking time.
5:30 PM - Great Clips: The lady cutting my hair asked if I put anything in my hair. I said no, but she insisted that I did something to it. I told her I swam a lot and the chemicals in the pool probably eat away at it over time. She put the comb up to her mouth, squinted her eyes and stared at the back of my head for a while. I doubt she had ever thought that hard since walking through the frozen food aisle in Kroger. Eventually, she said, "Hmm..." then told me that I looked like Jude Law.
(Side note: Is it customary to tip at Great Clips?)
This entry isn't meant to be boastful, by any means. I mean, if I had my pick, my look-alike would probably be Stanley Kowalski.
But anyway, I decided to GIS Jude Law and this photo probably has the best likeness to me.
My birthday is on Wednesday, the 22nd. I'm probably going to have some people over the following Saturday to celebrate my departure from teendom. Everyone should come.
