... cause I got the fuckin job.

Anyways. The show last Friday kicked ass. Took us less than 7 hours to get there. We rocked out the whole way there. Though I twisted everything up and sang whatever song that got played in the stereo 36 style. I love doing the lamb effect that Brock does.

So we get to Syracuse and had no problem finding the venue. Its on the corner right off the exit ramp. But getting a hotel room, yeah, that was a whole different story. The doors opened at 8 (or so we thought) and we got there a bit past 6. So two hours to find a hotel? Enough time right? No. We went to 3 hotels and were told that if we werent 21, we werent getting the room. We got told to look for a Motel 6. But were also told that there wasnt one in the area. So now were all pissed. The 4th hotel we went to "The Ramada Limited" I told Dave and Mike to wait in the car. I walked in, threw my card on the counter and said, I needed a room. She asked for ID, so I sighed, and told her that we just drove 7 hours to get here, added that we wouldnt be getting in till midnight and that wed leave first thing in the morning. Turns out that the lady was from the Island and she knows well the pain the ass that we suffered getting up there (literally! sitting that long sucks ass). She told us to be quiet and park around back.

So we got the room and we chilled till 7:30. We get to the Club and the line is around the fuckin block. Its cold, and its raining. Couldnt smoke a cigarette cause the rain kept putting them out, and Security was the only source of entertainment on the line. Some kid had a beer in his hand, the kid looked like he was 16. The Security/Officer walks over and asks for some ID. The kid just starts screaming at the guy, I guess he didnt notice the gun belt? Cause next thing I know the kids in a squad car and all his friends are getting the 3rd degree. I never laughed so hard at someone elses stupid misfortune. Oh well. So we get to the door and the first thing I hear is "Slit Wrist Theory" being played. I showed the guy my ID, gave him my ticket and then I realized that Dave and Mike were still at the door. Dave left his ID in the hotel room. They left to go and get it. As it turns out, doors opened at 7:30, not 8. I caught the last 2 songs. Dave and Mike missed it all. 18 Visions played next... I hated them. Then as From Autumn To Ashes was taking the stage, I forced my way down to the floor, as the place was fucking JAM packed. I never got my ass beat so badly. Many props to the 30 year old guy that saved my ass. Id probably be in a coma right now without his help.

After my near death experience, I went to the bar for a drink. I got my water, and noticed that Dave and Mike were no where, so Im scanning the crowd and the bar looking for them, and I saw someone most unexpected. Brock Lindow... the vocalist from 36 was RIGHT THERE. I walked over and talked with him, he saw my water and said thats nothing that a dedicated fan should be drinking, he bought me a shot and after that, another, and after that... well you get the picture. After 7-8 shots, I was pretty drunk, and I had Brock sign my hat. AWESOME. So I made my way back to the floor as the lights went out. Killswitch took the stage, and my life is forever changed. Oh man. I cant explain the sheer violence in the pit for that hour of musical bliss. Holy shit. my whole back was black and blue up till yesterday when the last of it finally cleared up. Im still having some pain in my neck though.

So we woke up the next morning, after eating like 3 large pies from Pizza Hut. And went to Denny's for breakfast. Saw a few people from the show and bullshited a bit. Mike has to learn that hardcore kids dont like Linkin Park. Well, not alot of them. Hes always talking about them as if they were Gods (I shouldnt really talk I guess..). But after that we started to head home.

We did get lost looking for Frans "Syracuse University" more than once... but... never did I get to see her, and she didnt come see me. I was not happy about that. But I just kept looking at the back of my hat, and feeling the pain of the hangover and headache that I had... and I smiled through the disappointment.

All in all, AWESOME trip.

Matt
