Genjo Sanzo of Saiyuki
Age: 20's
Powers: marksmanship, exorcise demons with the holy scrolls
Status: Main character
Nationality/Category: Chinese, human
One of the main characters of Saiyuki. He is a monk but a different kind. Why? Because this guy smokes, drinks and swears like some punk. He hits his subordinates (usually Goku and Goyjo) for their antics with his paper fan of doom. He wields a a Smith & Wesson gun (which is a banishing gun) to shoot demons (usually the weaker kind) and possesses the Maten scriptures in banishing stronger demons. His mission to stop the resurrection of the Demon King Gyuhmao.
His character is based from Xuanzang of the Chinese classic novel, Journey to the West. So, yeah, he usually ends up kidnapped. But hey, he kicks demon ass so don't mess with this guy.
Short background from his guy. He was the reincarnation of Kouzen Douji. After he and two other gods (along with Goku) rebel against heaven, they are banished from Heaven. Anyway, Sanzo was an orphan named Kouryuu, who was found in the river when he was just a baby. Koumyou Sanzo raised and taught him the ways of life in which he granted him as his successor. But then, Koumyou was killed by demons in order to protect him. Kouryuu was granted the title of Sanzo and as the years passed, he feels guilty of his master's death and sometimes it haunts him.
