Vegas...again.
This was definitely a bittersweet weekend. I went out to the desert on friday night and got to hang out there all day on saturday. It was alot of fun, I rode the quad a whole bunch and pretty much decided I want to do a desert race in the near future. And now comes the bitter part....
On my way back to the highway on sunday, I decide to do a little more offroading on my way out...bad idea. Me and my cousin are cruising along next to the road when we hit a big freaken square-edged ditch next to the road...my truck slams into it and it throws the rear end about 4 feet in the air. My truck ground to a stop and we got out to asses the situation.
The first thing I saw...the sight of this was follwed by a handfull of 4-letter words...
Here you can see pretty clearly where my axle is supposed to be...the little silver thing is part of the bolt that sheered off in about 3 or 4 places...
This is my rear shock that is now bent to hell, after seeing this I used more creative and complex variations of profane sentences.
Lastly, my shock tried to cut my bed in half but only made it about 4 inches...
So yea...I broke the shit out of my truck. We thought for sure we were gonna have to get a tow truck so we called AAA and had them send us one. My dad, my uncle and I start working on getting the axle straight so the could actually get it on the truck. We started working and decided that we could actually make the thing drive-able. So after only 45min of work, we had my truck on the road again, Not completely fixed, cause my shock is still bend and I need to get my springs rebuilt, but I was able to limp it home. Which was great because they would have had to send a tow truck from SD to get us and it was gonna cost $500. Anyway...on to the better part of the weekend....
Vegas was fun as hell...We went out there to attend The 2005 NAB tradeshow. Its pretty much the biggest Video/Film/Media convention on the planet...all the big companies have their products there to try out and they give out a bunch of free crap. We also turned it in to another for-the-hell-of-it vegas trip. Im not going to do a play-by-play cause I'm sure someone else will...all I'm gonna say is that it was alot of fun just having a smaller group all comprised of guys...it made most of the decision making alot easier...thus making the trip much more enjoyable...here are the only 4 photos I took...

The payoff...notice the kid in the backseat and you can see part of the husband's head in the passenger seat...also take note that this was the 2nd time she did it...wow.
More payoff...having a ministry gun shake his head and sneer at our hijinx...pretty sure he and all the rest of the haters were just jealous that we were seeing all the boobs that day...
The new JVC HD cam...I think the Panasonic is more promising...but I like the interchangeable lens feature on this one...
Anyway...overall a good weekend, except for handicapping my truck of course. Now I can't wait for next month when I go back to Vegas for my b-day...
