The boys are all kinds of gorgeous in this.

Also, discuss. Because there is a lot to discuss with an ending like that. '_'

Here are my questions...

1) It's four years in the manga, so it's either an alternate universe that branched out after Yuuko's death or the same universe as the manga but with an elongated time-frame (i.e. they have the exact same conversation 10 years from now in the OAD and 4 years from now in the manga).

2) I thought it was just a message. Wasn't there something about the payment being delivered through the girl's mouth? I watched a version subbed in Portuguese and at first I thought "the girl" referred to Kohane, instead of the video girl speaking in third person (or something speaking through her).

Does that release Watanuki from having to stay in the shop/never aging?

In Tsubasa manga continuity, I'd say that it doesn't, because having to stay in the shop wasn't payment for waiting for Yuuko; that was Watanuki sort of killing two birds with one stone. It's the accomplishment of Syaoran's quest that would release himself and Watanuki from their prices, I think. But that's never been mentioned in xxxHolic.

Watanuki looks damned good in Yuuko mode.OH ( ... )

So... what was the price that was paid?

Yes, they're great, but 10 years is a long time to be stuck in the same routine.
Well, I;m such a diehard Doumeki/Watanuki shipper, I'm just glad to see then still close (and not married to girls) 10 years on. ^_^

I don't know... Maybe it's just me, but I find the whole thing very confusing. Going only by xxxHolic, it looks as if being locked in the shop was the price for being able to wait for Yuuko (presumably because it'd take more than a normal lifespan, see my comment below). But that's also the price for escaping in TRC; and if he's already stuck in time/space anyway, why would he need to pay anything to wait? It's not like he can do anything else.

They're married to each other! Mokona said so! Not to mention sending everyone to sleep while he waits for Doumeki. ^_-

1) It's difficult to tell if it's an alternate universe or not, but it's definitely around six years after the current time period of manga!Rou. Kohane's age is probably a good basis for this assumption.

2) It might be linked to something Watanuki said earlier in the OAD - about something.... nnn, forgot the exact terms. Basically, it implied that a big change was about to come, then we get something very much like a Yuuko message. Again, it's difficult to tell if this girl is Yuuko's reincarnation, but it's also plausible since Yuuko technically died long before Watanuki was born.

It's awesome that this could mean Watanuki may step out of the shop in the near future, but it's also heartbreaking (but not unexpected) that it took this long.

Ye gods, I've been afraid that it'd take a hundred years. It's not really tragic until everyone you know and love dies of old age.

Good point about Yuuko having been dead for longer than 10 (or 4) years, though. I hadn't thought of that.

I'm a little late to the game, but...

Good point about Yuuko having been dead for longer than 10 (or 4) years, though. I hadn't thought of that. The only problem with this is that typically reincarnation is seen as your soul moving on to the next life. When Yuuko was frozen her problem was that her body was technically dead but her soul was still alive. Ergo, for the soul to move on, it would have only happen when she 'died' in HOLiC ( ... )
