personification - time and fevers burn away- can be metaphor, it wont last very long, a fling
alliteration- supernatural sympathy
simile- like vibrations of a bell
allusion to cinderella- on the stroke of midnight pass - it wont last very long, like cinderella ~ when hes with this person he feels happy/paradise
persona - a guy. maybe unhappy
poem is about a lover, cherishing the time with the fling

anti-war poem , persona - a drill sergeant ; setting- vietnam war
repetition - T & I sounds - click, patter- onomatopeic - urgent tone
poem starts in a middle of a sentence- making us feel like one of the recruits that has fallen asleep- catching our attention
sadistic questions- are you queer?- belittles their masculinity
metaphors- turning the key in the ignition- sexual- serves to give the soldiers hope about getting laid when they come home from the war, , motivate them to survive
racism- charlies- racist name for viet cong soldiers - degrades the enemy- rotten fish-breath
tripes- colloquial- guts - harsh tone - push them to fight
repetition- youre dead dead dead - indicate that will happen to them if they dont man up & watch their backs in war
i saw sho's new haircut thanks to tashii chan & fatimaaaaa

LOVED IT fter fatimaaaaa told me it was the haircut frm last year :)
